Hey, at least he didn't say which side are the clowns. Some think that applies to both sides. Personally, I think they switch makeup between the sides -- sometimes they paint their mouths pointed up, /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and sometimes pointed down, /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Yankee\'s - Red Sox

Big Red Sox fan here. One more game to go.
The Yankees apparently did not have the best TEAM since they lost, however I will agree that they have better individual players, except the pitchers.
As far as the Yankees winning the 26 titles, Steinbrenner is basically trying to buy the title. I think the salary cap should be as it is in football ($XXXX and that is it, no going over). Teams in smaller markets can't really compete with such lopsided payrolls. Daniel Snyder has been trying to buy a superbowl ever since he bought the Redskins, but with football's salary cap, it is more difficult and he has yet to suceed.

I too use to be a huge NASCAR fan but since it has gotten so big in the last few years, I have tended to back away from it. Trying to watch it on TV has gotten way out of hand with all the commercials. Out of a 500 mile race you may get to see 300 miles. And here lately, I have likened it to WWE wrestling. I have been watching racing for over 20 years and can definitely see the change. As far as Earnhardt Jr., I can't stand him as he is riding his daddy's coat tails. His daddy made a name for himself and Jr. has been given a top Notch team and car something his dad did not have when he started out. Even Michael Waltrip won a race in a DEI car and he hadn't won a points race in 475 previous starts /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I know I will get a lot of grief for the above comments, but just my opinions. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Minnesota is one of them teams that can't compete on salary. Every year they loose the goods guys and have to bring up more guys from the farm. They don't have the money. Even with one of the lowest payrolls they have done pretty well over the last 3 years since baseball wanted to disolve them.

Re: Yankee\'s - Red Sox

Murph; Look at the Tigers. Their still my home town team, but they are nomore than a farm team [other than this year] for everyone else. A beautiful new ballpark was built in downtown Detroit, but for what? So the scouts could be more comfy when they buy their new players for THEIR team? Baseball is the only sport I allow myself, it is time consuming you know. And even so the Tigers will still be my team, good or bad. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Yankee\'s - Red Sox

I have to agree with Bob. I'm an avowed Red Sox fan and calling us 'Red Sox Nation' is no exaggeration. It is something we hold with the ferver of nationalism. The NY-Boston riff is very real but no more so than in baseball. We're one game away and it's still an anxious, nervous time for me. Every pitch is a war of wills and a battle of wits...and I love every second of it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Yankee\'s - Red Sox

My, favorite team and in my mind the best team in baseball is the Seattle Mariners.
This isn't because of their 99 loss season, but for the last two years the Roberto Clemente award has gone to a Seattle Mariner. Last Year Jamie Moyer, this year Edgar Martinez

Re: Yankee\'s - Red Sox

I'm also happy for the Red Sox, although I'm not sure I want to get to Gary's level - I might hurt myself! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's always nice to see the "underdog" win.

But I also always feel bad for the "other" team. Yeah, yeah, I know, nobody remembers who came in second! Well, they do! And they are the second best team in the world, right? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So congratulations to the Cardinals (and all of their fans) too! They have nothing to be ashamed of. They had one heck of a season! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
