What do you mean by "hard to start until it cools down?"

Under the seat is a little knob. Turn it clockwise to see if it is closed. If it won't go in, unscrew it several turns. Put the three point lever all the way forward (down) and leave it for now.

When you type in all capital letters, that implies YOU ARE YELLING AT US. It is also tougher to read. Can you change your caps-lock such that you aren't writing that way, please? Thanks. :thumbsup:

Sorry for the typing , i saw the little screw with spring on it and tightened it , it was opened .Hard to start meaning you have to hold key in until it finally catches up . I have just walked in and it started but smoked so i cut it off .I do have a compression tester for diesel but i heard it is extremely hard to remove injectors without damage to them .

Seemingly obvious question, but have you checked all of the fluids since this started happening?

well ,i think so , i checked oil and coolant. i know there is a oil that goes in gear case and i have not got that far . I thought i would see if it run before doing major changes. i really don't know what goes in gear box.

If the threaded knob is all the way in, that closes the hydraulic system, locking the lift arms in place. It should be open. If it is closed and three point lift is operated, it can lug the engine down. It can also break the pump or shear the pump's key. Operate the tractor with the knob unscrewed.

When you say you have to "hold the key in until it finally catches up," does that mean the engine spins freely but is not trying to fire, or something else? Does the tractor smoke when you try to start it after it is hot?

Are you familiar with the controls and levers on the tractor?

i really don't know what goes in gear box.

JD.303 Hyd. Trans fluid or equivalent. N.A.P.A auto parts was the best deal for my area. They carry a 5 gallon bucket.
Not sure how much your 1300 holds but my YM2000
holds 4+GaL. your need to clean the Pickup Screen also. If it's dirty it will prevent the pump from working corretly and 3pt. won't work.
Also all diesels smoke when they are first started esp. when they have "Alot" of Hrs. on the motor so thats normal. I still believe your going to need to run a Compression check for 2 reasons. Compression and your get a good look at the Injectors and be able to see if they are clear or clogged. If you preform all the things mentioned on here your going to now what condition it's in. It may not be that bad just Negelect and Maint.
The only thing I know that hasn't been mentioned I can recall is replacing ALL the fiters and drain and flush the Radiator.

Guys i do appreciate the help , and i will feel better no the compression readings . I know it has been setting up and it did not have a fuel filter . I found on another post about the controls , they had attached a picture made it a lot easier .Do y'all know how to check injectors or clean them and also the valve clearances for this tractor. I will attempt to remove the injectors without damage ... my fingers are crossed.

Your get it straightened out and your love it. All you have to do is ask for help or knowledge of preforming something on here. Napa has the filter. I ordered 3 so I'm good and After the anuerism with Headand neck Inj I CRS. half the time and I don't remember what I did with the the part #:confused2:
