Yanmar 1602D starting issues

Do you currently have the starter off the tractor? If the solenoid only clicks, you have found at least a part of your trouble. Have you verified the battery has over 12 volts? As Norm and others have said, you may have a bad solenoid, and a connection issue as well.

You're homing in on the issue. Keep with it. Check the fusebox, as well, for your other electrical issues. If you've lost power to the rest of the tractor, start easy and work your way through it.

so far,
the starter solenoid will click, but actually doesn't move enough to engage the gear or complete the circuit for the starter.

Are you futilely attempting to repair this tractor without a volt/ohm meter:confused:? How much voltage is in your battery?

Thats a must. The same thing was going on with my starter. After I disasembled it Blew and cleaned the Brushes and Dust out it's been fine for 3yrs.And my Throw Out Gear was Sticking Also And Not engaging the Fly wheel. A little Steel Wool and oil took care of that ;)
