Yanmar 2210 injection pump plungers and barrels alignment

Do you know how long it takes to shut off, AFTER you turn off the fuel??!!! a LONG TIME.. & it filled the neighborhood w/ JET BLACK smoke.... it could of blown up & serious injuries could of been...

What about the compression release to shut it down? Or would the high rpm's destroy those components?

It probably wouldn't be ideal but might be better than any damage caused by over-revving. He might have just not thought about the decompression. I know from experience that the brain does not function at full capacity when an engine is running away. We had an old Detroit 2 stroke diesel in a feed truck that ran away (several times) in our shop. 98% of your brain is telling you to run for your life. Only the remaining 2% is around to help you think through other options.

Aint THAT the truth Aaron.!!! I've NEVER seen anyone who's standing next to a runaway, shut it down..
Its ALWAYS someone else that runs up & does it.. The brain goes into over-load/freeze mode..
Its a diff. story IF your expecting it..

I always have my hand on the shut-off after I install one.. cuz ya just never know..
I never hook up the shut-off or the throttle when I get ready to fire 1 up after a pump install..
I tell the operator, "I've got the controls.. you just turn the key"..
I got that fellas pump apart yesterday.. He had the segments off 2 teeth.. in the fueling position..
It wouldn't of mattered IF he had pulled the stop.. that baby wasn't shutting down..
With the parts he lost & my o/h, its only gonna cost him 375.00.. I sure hope his engine is ok..
I guess I'll find out Sat. or Sunday because I offered to help him put it back together.. I'm just KOOL like that. Lol

Things went haywire this weekend & I didn't get my parts order..{not shipped}
That vendor is gonna get an earful this morning..
So I cant report back on the install..
Come to think about it.. we haven't heard from Topfli.???

Well, I went & "tech-rep'd" the run-away pump install yesterday.. Basically stood there while the guy installed his pump.. I just MADE SURE he didn't make any mistakes.
After we bled the air out, what a PITA that was.. she purred like a kitten.. no noticeable bearing rattles, thank God..
The fella asked me, "what do I owe you for standing here"?? I said, "Nuthin".. He said, "F THAT.. I woulda been lost if you weren't here"..
He was persistent.!!! I said, "how about 20.00?" He said, "F THAT" & reached in his pocket & peeled off 2 crisp 100 $ bills..!!!!
I was there for exactly 1 hour.. I tried to give it back but he was having no part of that..
It's nice to be appreciated.!!!
