Yanmar F16d ring and pinion

Unless someone has 1 they are parting out. You might have to get someone to order these parts from japan if they are still available

I dont know if there that hard to find....that may as well be the going price.

I seem to remember back when i was going to regear my 4wd old pickup and decent ring and pinion was $350 for the common GM 12 bolt rear end which there was probably millions made and hundreds of thougsands still in service. this is a specialty item for a tractor that is almost 30 years old that is not in its parent country and that was never made in that quantity.

I am not saying i like that price but that may as well be the price.

That is the best you will do. A new set for an FX24D is $695 and they are available. If your serious about repairing it you better grab it before someone else does. Just an opinion. :2cents:

I paid $ 800.00 for the tractor and if I add $750.00 thats $1,550.00 that I would have in the Yanmar F16D 4X4
is that top on what that tractor would bring ?
No accessories came with the tractor

I would think it would bring a little more than that or I guess you can parts it out. Does it have a loader? Just don't think you will do much better on the gears. Do you already have it torn down?

No accessories came with it. if it had a loader then that would shed a different outlook on the worth..
the bad ring and pinion gear was already removed by the seller but they put back the axle as a front two wheel drive
PS then the seller sent the gears to Chattanooga,tn to a shop guy who then lost the old gears

NOt sure the exact size of it but i assume its a 16HP tractor at the pto...or similar size to the old 1500 and its got more of an auto transmission type.

I would think you could get $2000-2500 for it.

But like winston said its parts are worth well more than that.

The Ring gear set is easy $500 used!!!

Engine $500-800 easy id thing...tires are $300 with the rims easy i would think depending upon condidtion. trans section i think could bring $1500 alone with the good ring gear. The more you part out the more that money would come back.


And what i should of made clear on my earlier post is that $350 for the chevy ring set was an aftermarket and one of the cheaper ones. If i would of bought a big name set or gone to the delater your closer to the $500 mark which is not that far off of you and like i said thats for a common rear end in a pickup truck.

Your tractor is worth $5000 in good running condition.

I think I saw that one on Craigslist. I decided to pass on it because it was not the line of yanmars that I like. Good luck with the fix. I think it is worth it to buy the gears if you need a tractor.

A 4wd Yanmar is generally worth about $1000 more than the same 2wd model.
