Loader Yanmar F18D hydraulic query

Hi Managed to look at my set up today. Looks like the original HP line has been removed, i have this on the pump

This then goes around the front of the tractor, under the battery and along the right hand side to the loader control valve. From the loader control valve it then goes to the block on the same connection as your HP line.

The plug below the decent control goes to my tipping trailer QD.

Hope that helps.

That helps heaps. Thanks ScottLW for the images and explanation of how your FEL is connected. It is a different way to connect in series. I will look at a hybrid setup with HP line out from the port below the 3PL control knob and with J_J's idea to return to the filler cap. That will avoid cutting lines and hopefully will work.

Does your tipping trailer have a return line? If so where does it connect into the system please?

Thanks for your pics Nevis - unfortunately they are very small (postage stamp size) and I can't read the labels you appear to have attached!
Any chance of slightly larger images please?

No, it works off the 3pt lift control, when the 3pt arms get to their highest point, the trailer starts to lift, then on moving the 3pt control lever back down a bit, the trailer then falls under gravity, once this is back down the 3pt arms then fall to the level set by the lever.

Well! I threw caution to the wind this afternoon. Took the left hand side footplate off. Undid the two clamps holding the HP line from HP pump to 3PL. Got a hacksaw blade and cut through it. Had to cut it in two places to get it out. I then took the FEL line with the four holed banjo and threaded it along and in front of the engine to the base of the HP pump. Detached the the banjo to make it easier to bolt onto pump. Then I reattached the line.
Took the return line under the RH footplate and up to where the original HP line was attached. Removed the banjo bolt, taking care to keep the copper washers, then the original banjo and pipe (now cut to facilitate removal). Once the original was out of the way placed the FEL return line banjo in its place, with the copper washers and the banjo bolt. Tightened everything up and began to reassemble all the bits I'd removed. Too late in the day to take photographs but will do so in the morning.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice and particularly to scottlw for the images of his F18D.

Here are the images of how I connected the FEL - I'm not that happy with removing the metal HP line as the rubber lines are far more vulnerable. While the line to the pump is relatively OK - it does go over the metal frame so I'll have to find some way to protect it from rubbing - the return is a different matter.

You can see that the return line goes under the RH side footplate. This is an extremely poor location and makes the rubber hose vulnerable to rocks, sticks and damage in use. I tried to run it so that it sat just underneath the footplate but I didn't have the length so in the end had to hang it under the floor supports. This is now a prime candidate for snagging or damage from rough ground.

I'd call this way of installing 'agricultural' - perhaps not as 'agricultural' as hacking into the HP line but only marginally better.

Finally replaced all the plates and mats after tightening everything. It started to rain as I started it up. Went to the gravel pit and grabbed a bucket of gravel to repair a slump in the driveway. They used the open bucket to pick up a dead sheep and transport it to the 'cemetery'

The load on the bucket revealed a slight leak at the control box so I'll retighten those unions tomorrow and it'll be full steam ahead.

Thanks for all the help. :)

rmacAU, Thanks for sharing you hookup. Hoping your loader works out great for you and I believe it will. Curiosity killed the cat. I am just very curious if your loader valve has a power beyond port. Would it be possible to get a picture or pictures of your valve? Lot's of these Yanmars running loaders out there without power beyond hooked up and seemingly no problems. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Here is a pic of the FEL control box. The line on the right is the HP one to the base of the HP pump. The line through to the 3PL is out of frame on the left. The six lines underneath (in and out x three functions) and the plug on the inner edge are the only outlets that I can see.

Hope this helps your curiosity and doesn't kill the cat
