I'm awaiting delivery of a FEL for my F18D. Does anyone have a photo of the pick up point for attaching the hydraulics please?

If yours is like my F series the hydraulic connection points are underneath the RH foot plate - I haven't got a photo but you will see 2 blanked off pipes for out and in flow pointing towards the outside of the tractor .
To activate tip the seat forward and you will see a wing nut on a threaded bar in a slot. Undo the wing nut and push the bar to the other end of the slot.
DO NOT do this until you have connected up the hydraulic pipes to allow oil flow otherwise you will dead head the pump.

".. dead head the pump... " can someone please explain to the hydraulically challenged - like me

It appears that the connection points on the F18D are under the seat, at the front of the rear housing. There are two levers on the RH side of the seat. One is for the 3PL and the other ...!?!? It is the shorter lever that can slide between the wingnuts.

I don't suppose it will be as simple as connecting the in hose to point 'A' and the out hose to point 'B' - hope there are clear instructions for me to follow.

My new 4-in-1 FEL has arrived in Perth and was due down yesterday. When the transport company went to collect it they only found one person at the tractor place. He didn't speak English! Despite my loader being there ready to collect, complete with signs with my name and a note that it was paid for and ready to go, the transport firm left without it! :confused2:

So they had to be contacted and told to go back. What a .... Now the truck doing the delivery to our town has a load of bottles for one of the wineries, then the food load for the local supermarket, then, maybe, my FEL might make the Sat night load and be here Sunday.

I believe the short lever is the draft control lever. Here is a thread from one of our members and I think the only one who actually has the draft control hooked up as it was originally. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/yanmar/105695-auto-tiller-controls.html

"Dead heading" a pump is when there is no place for the discharge to go. A gear pump will pump until something gives. I am thinking your F18 has relief valves built into it to prevent you from over pressuring yours if you close the stop valve but I do not know this for fact. My 2002d is plumbed that way. A lot of the older model Yanmars are plumbed so that if you close the stop valve the pump will "dead head" into that stop valve until something breaks. Make sense?

Deadheading a pump is when you block the hyd fluid from moving from pump to the tank or cyl which will use it to develop pressure and produce work. The result is something breaks.

A hyd pump will try and pump as long as it is turning. The fluid must move

A relief valve is a must on a hyd system to relieve the pressure caused by a restriction.

Be wary when using QD's in the hyd path.

If you do deadhead a flow path, damage might occur in the pump, hose, fittings, valve, etc.

Most expensive is the pump.

Im sure on my F18D the loader in plumbed in by breaking into the high pressure line, the connectors are on the right hand side of the tractor (when sitting in the seat) just in front of the foot plate. Im sure mine is plumbed in series, rather than use a Power Beyond port.

Im not around the tractor for a bit, but will try to get some pics when i next am.

An open center hyd system is always plumbed in series. The fluid has to flow from pump to tank until a valve lever is moved.

The PB is part of the series circuit, and so is the hyd block if utilized.

The telephone call came this morning and I took the trailer in to pick up my long awaited FEL - the previous one came packed in a steel frame and required assembly. This FEL is already assembled and presents me with a challenge - how to handle it and get it to where I need it.

So far I've attached the 'bib' to the front bumper bar and the bracket that goes under the tractor at the rear of the engine. The holes were fitted with plugs but water had accumulated in the holes so I took some time spraying, winding bolts in finger tight before removing and then spraying with penetrating oil and putting the bolts in again. Repeated this half a dozen times until the rust was removed and the bolts went in freely.

I've got the loader half off the tractor and will take some photographs tomorrow. So far I'm impressed with the fit as all twelve holes have lined up with the holes in the tractor and have fitted nicely.

I've used a black arrow to indicate a point on the Hydraulic pump that I assume is for the FEL attachment. Does anyone have a similar setup? Where does the second hydraulic line go?

If you know for sure that fitting is a high pressure port ,you should be able to tie it into in port on your loader valve. We /I have have no idea about your loader valve ie ;open center /closed center single joy stick / dual stick. you will need to have a return line to the tank. My loader valve is open center with single joy stick. in is h p from pump out is l p to tank
