If you can't find an engine model number we might be able to help with a bore diameter and distance between cylinders.

Probably not a Tractor HG. 1.5 mm across the Cylinder is major difference in Circumference. I Measured the distance of the two in between the Cylinders using the Pics. and 4mm new and 8mm on the old. Could be a JD Hg.? If that is the correct New! HG. I have a good guess which one is the 35.00$ one.

Is this just some random Yanmar engine on a genset or a ditch pump that has been beat on for 30 years??? To not have a piece of equiptment to pin it too and to not have an engine ID tag/plate left on it, is just strange?

I still dont understand how you cant spot the ID tag on an engine this small??? IF its greasy wipe the flat surfaces of the lower block down. Maybe get some numbers off the head?

Something tells me it maybe a VN'er and a good way to hide the Mixed Matched parts. Head/Eng.block is to remove the ID. Tags. That's beginning to sound more of the issue. If they tried to remove the Stamped Numbers on the Tag would be very difficult or nearly impossible and not tell it.

Could be but IMO. Aaron answered his question with what he needed to do. And he probably didn't like what he found out!!! And if I'm right I sure wouldn't be Posting it that I paid good money for a POS. VN'er. :fiery:

yea Aaron told him with measurements he could tell him or get him close. Its just very strange?

the only thing i see making sense is what you said carey, maybe even your sugestion Cali!! haha
But i think in my mind the only thing that makes sense is that he has some super old and or rigged/neglected possibly home made something...ditchpump maybe that he found on a farm or bought at auction or CL and he knows its a yanmar engine but its connected to something like the pump and there is no way in his mind to identify the motor from the application cause he does not know the rest of the contraptions maker, its homemade from many parts, all the paint or id tags are gone??? But it still would take a concious effort to remove the id tag off a yanmar. And i still dont see how youcan miss an intact id tag. UNLESS it was leaking oil and slobberring fuel so bad that dirt is just caked all in the oil mess and it has 1/4" of grime on it and he just hasent wiped it clean?

FWIW... For some reason my antivirus (Avast) will not let me go back to page 1 or 2 of this thread. It says that a virus tries to load ('Gzip' or something). I thought that was strange so I tried it at home - same results. Is anyone else noticing anything strange on the first two pages? All other threads here load just fine.
