Why dust your engine with a filter that doesn't fit correctly ? Pay the money and get the correct fitting filter

A while back I started a thread comparing the YM2000 air filters I have encountered.

I'll repeat the first post here. I suggest reviewing that thread for the useful responses that were posted.

Some air filter elements for YM240/YM2000 and similar.

Back row from left:
Yanmar #124295-12560. 4.5" ID, 7.5" OD.
Yanmar-USA shipped this larger element (7.5 inch) when 'element for YM240' was requested.

Back row center: Yanmar #124450-12510 (the # in YM240 Parts Manual). 4.5" ID, 7" OD.
NOS filter I found on Ebay.

Back row right: NAPA #2297. 5.5" ID, 7" OD.

Front row:
AC #A127C, a replica of the Yanmar 124450-12510 behind it.
Found this on my YM240 in 2003.

All the filters except NAPA are 2 3/8 inches tall. The NAPA is more than 1/8 inch taller. The enclosure lid wouldn't seal so I took it back. (Also - this photo shows the NAPA filter has less surface area).

Added - I don't think AC has made that filter for years but its number might be useful to find a cross reference.

But - just order a filter from Hoye. Decent price and good quality.

The Hoye air filter and the ( Napa Gold 2276 )is what we always used on the f18 F20 F22 f24.
Never had any problems with those.

Now the F42 and the F335 is a tricky one, never found that one.:confused2:

Not correct. Please be careful with those numbers- especially with the 6022 filters. The Wix and every other name brand '6022' filter that I have ever seen are too skinny and will not seal. Many of our customers have found that the hard way. The '6022' filter, for example, that we sell is manufactured specifically for the Yanmar. It is not just a re-branded wix or other filter that you can get off the shelf of a local parts store.

I was going to say this. Their filter is a copy of the old original yanmar filter. Sure not made by yanmar but it does have a yanmar symbol on it, it was just made to their specs. The Hoye filter I bought matches the OE yanmar filter that came on my tractor exactly and even has extra foam on the top and bottom to ensure a better seal for the worn out air boxes of the old tractors.

I looked at an old beat up neglected yanmar. I opened the air cleaner box and found one rust all in the throat of the intake and cleaner but also found a parts store filter in there that did not seal up, it fit in there but the top was not sealing and it was just sucking air all around it. Between those 2 things and a few other things and not coming togeather I passed on the tractor but the sign of water in the air box and the wrong "generic" filter in there scared me away the most.

I have used the "2297" air filter, (NAPA or O'rielly) for 17 years on my YM2000B, works perfectly. The fact that the lid won't fit down flush is a good thing, assures a perfect seal where needed. (Always thought they were made by WIX). Washed my OEM filter and stored it away for safe keeping in case needed.

I work for a Deere construction dealer and I was able to cross my filters to a Deere part number.
