Thread pruned please continue original discussion.

Thanks Moss. I appreciate tools like carfax and I have a decent mechanical knowledge. I checked paint match and door/fender gaps and saw no issues. The presence of so many yellow marks threw me off. We used to buy new, but unfortunately new vehicle prices are too high for our taste.

Inspector's confirmation marks at a final assembly inspection station at the factory? Sometimes you will see marks on fasteners like bolts, nuts, clamps.

Agree.
I have a KIA and there are inspector paint dabs all over it.
Part of quality control to indicate that part, fastener etc was inspected.

Also judging by the amount I've seen they sure double check their products thoroughly.

I'll add that their whole wiring system is impressive.
Like in aviation all looms are supported every 12 ins or so, lots of grommets and sealed connectors filled with anti corrosion grease.

LOL, we were installing LED headlight bulbs and caused a short.
Took a while to locate the fuse that did not exist.
Kia used automatic resetting circuit breakers!
Shutting off and restarting the engine reset the CB's.

I read or saw a quote from senior automotive type. Might have been the CEO of Kia... Basically the wiring harness in a modern car costs more than the engine. Interesting to contemplate the ramifications.

My son wrecked his 2014 Hyundai Sonata last year. It messed a couple of the wires up to the main harness. It was something like $3600. They totaled the car.
