^^^^

I’m not sure about the Volt, but there was a recall on the Bolt’s batteries.

That’s actually part of the problem with EV’s…EV owners I have interviewed and know personally have two things in common; they are multiple vehicle households (which include at least one ICE vehicle…that they can use in an emergency or recreationally) and are affluent. All enjoy their EV’s.
Even if they can’t park them in the garage for fear of the vehicle spontaneously catching fire and burning their house down. But, seriously, they all have backup vehicles so when driving the EV isn’t convenient, they use the ICE vehicle, emissions be damned.

It’s gonna get ugly for the consumer if legislation forces the population to buy EV’s only.

Sounds like the owners of Ford's 100+ years ago. :)

No one is being forced to buy an EV today or next week. Today many of people are on waiting list to buy an EV.

After my wife broke her hip in the horse lot in 2019 I started taking her to the door of her place. 2 months later when I realized EVs are the future I bought our 2016 Nissan Leaf SL for $13,318 in St Louis and rented a U-Haul and brought it home behind our F150. It got totalled in 2020 but we rebuilt it and have it back to making two 30 mile trips daily for no new money and the max range has gone from 60 miles at time of purchase to 150 miles thanks to a new and larger battery from Nissan. I would not sell it today for a $5,000 net profit tonight.

Most all posting here will buy an EV when you realize you are paying the price of owning an EV to the fossil fuel monopoly.

If you pay income tax in the USA today you can buy a new 2023 150 mile range Nissan Leaf S for $20K or the fancy 220 mile range Leaf SV for $30K.

Buying sub $30K EV is not rocket science if it pays it's way. Today most cannot buy an EV even if you want one because there is no one to sell you one. :)

They were practically given away because they were bursting into flames and people were scared $hitless of them.
The only complaints I have found are limited electric only range and for those using electric only having the gas go bad in the tank.

I mentioned to her about the gas going stale and she looked and found she had not bought gas in 7 months...

As mentioned, they own two cars... hers the Volt to and from San Francisco medical center work daily 5x a week and husband has a gad Mazda.

Husband in sales so he me drive 20 miles one day or 300+ the next.

The combo is perfect for them... and having never bought or leased American she bought Chevrolet...

What's not to like?

Not today or next week but, soon enough;

The average consumer will not appreciate being forced to buy an EV due to legislation and party politics.

And, yea, you might have a hard time buying a new EV today but, it’s equally as difficult to buy a new diesel truck.

Looks like another windfall... one battery in AZ on the later model caught fire and GM will be replacing all batteries...

Had a bad car fire here on the weekend... a late model Mercedes melted...

Every car we have had in the family newish has had recalls... some just airbags which have taken many years and still waiting for parts... manufacturer said not to let anyone ride in front passenger seat in 2019... still waiting...

The lack of diesel work trucks is concerning. Those of us that use used vehicles like I bought one new vehicle in my life and that was 1973 it was $2,150 for a Datsun 1200 Nissan.

For starters, it's a Chevrolet.

I did find this Volt story.

What about seeing any gas or diesel vehicle fires?
