We bought a 2015 Toyota Prius hybrid last Fall and that's probably as far as we're going to go into the EV world. It's getting 50-60mpg and that's good enough for us, charges itself. I've seen several people that's charged their Prius Prime which gets you around 30 miles on all electric at highway speeds. It's taking 7 kwh to charge so if we had one that would cost us about $0.65, at least it has a ICE to take over when the batteries are depleted and you just keep going unlike a full EV. The batteries in these things are getting a lot life out of them too. It's not unheard of to get 250-300k miles before replacing the batteries or just replacing certain cells in the pack, most people never keep a car that long anyway.
