OK, thanks Bob... the snow thing should just be a very rare thing. In the several years I have been here, we have really only had enough snow to plow maybe two or three times at most. So to buy something just for that seems pretty wasteful. If I can make it work as you describe for gravel, then it sounds like I am better off with the LMB.
