Yikes! Is it Winter where you are?

Its definitely winter here !

I have 2 goldens amongs 6 other dogs. Its funny to watch them hopping to get around in the snow. Especially the little dogs, they follow the goldens when they make a path through the snow. When the little dogs are in the paths, we can't see them, but we can see the backs of the 2 goldens and the yellow lab.

Strange weather out here. I'm in the sierra foothills in norther calif. and it's been in the high 60's to low 70's for over a week now.

I'm in the foothills in Central CA and am experiencing the same. It's like an early Spring. We did get some showers at 6am today but it's not cold. Lows in mid 40'sF and highs in mid 60'sF. Had lots of time to do some log splitting and stacking. Also ran the chipper for a while.
Normally its a little colder this time of year lows in mid 20's dipping into the teens, and highs in mid 40's or maybe 50F.

I'm in NE South Dakota and 8 days ago we set a new record low of -44 Deg. F. That sounds cool enough but the wind was blowing 15-20 at the same time and that wind makes it feel downright cold. This is the third winter in a row with average temperatures colder than -5 deg. F. We are in a 7 year streak of "well below average" temperatures. It's just a little cold though. We've also received a good 25" of snow this winter.

Yesterday afternoon, my wife and I carried a birthday present to our grandson in a town about 30 miles away. As we left the house, my car's temperature gage showed 84 degrees F. I thought it would cool down when I got moving, but as I got onto the highway, the temperature went up to 85 and on to 86 as I drove South. I couldn't believe what I was doing as I reached down and turned on the air conditioner to cool down the car. Holy smokes! It's the middle of January and I'm running my air conditioner. Texas weather. . . .

We made it out of cold country Wednesday. Weather was nice in Lee county TX yesterday. But unlike some people we toughed it out and did not turn on the air conditioner.

If you have to buy a thermometer that has negative numbers, there is something funamentaly WRONG. It got down to 18 one night here, and Tallahassee looked like a ghost town. I went out on alot of chimney fires that night. I was raised in upstate NY so I know what cold and snow are, but I moved down here to my Grandads place when I was 14. After a few years of 100 degree plus summers your blood thins out. anything less than 75 is cold to me.
Spring is just around the corner, the co eds are wearing skirts again!!!!!!!

I think it is winter here, but I will have to double check google earth to make sure I am still North of the equator. It is in the high 30's most of the time but that is in Centigrade. Welcome to Delta State of Nigeria. One thing about this place, the foliage is simple beautiful with all the flowering plants blooming. They have a wet and dry season, not winter and summer. Right now it is the dry season, so we havent had a lot of rain since I got here in December, but that will change in 3 months or so. I sure hope we get some rain soon to wash some of the Sahara duststorm residue out of the air so the airlines can get back on a regular schedule. Some days it is so bad they cant fly for days due to the dust eating up the turbine blades and of course the visibility sucks too.

Well we had our 1st major snow of the year here last night, about 6 inches. I was hoping that I would not have to plow any snow this year but it didn't happen. I got out there and had fun doing it. I have had all the fun I need this winter and I am ready to play in the dirt and for warm weather.

Well the Hoosiers almost got a record fall from Monday - Wednesday. I think I have 8-10 inches. Most snow we've seen at one time in almost 12 years. Just about every county in central Indiana was shut down yesterday. I work on a military base and it even close yesterday. Can't remember that happening before. Other than 9/12/2001.

I know these numbers are small relative to you yuppers, but around here it brings everything to a halt. Mainly because we dont have the equipment or crew to deal with it.

Well time see how well that 4-wheel drive in the truck works I guess.
