Yikes!! What would you do to save the tractor from getting smashed?!

I would not do anything with it until the insurance company gives you an answer. This is why we pay big bucks to them every year. If you try to rescue the tractor and the roof falls on it and/or takes you down with it, they will say you're at fault and walk away. Around here anyway, insurance company will take care of the building and its contents. Wish you the best....Dan

I did not read any further.....the only way to handle this IMHO.

Different if you have no insurance. Then you need to do what you think you are capable of and have a few people around to help and to get to the hospital if you get hurt.

this is the safest way.. it looks like they don't build for snow load in Arizona!.. and this is what happens when it does snow!..

With 50 degree weather, the snow should melt quick. ^^agree, the lean to/car port should have been built better. Some hurricane brackets, lag bolts, and thru bolts tying everything together with screws would have made a huge difference.

....well...this is one advantage of having a low exhaust pipe instead of a stack.

...got to look at the bright side / could of been worse.

Where is the post that is supposed to hold up the center of the right side? If it doesn't have one or never had one then no wonder it fell in. Every joint needs more than rusty nails holding it together, they need something called joist hangers to hold it. Every post needs to be at least lag screwed into the cross beam. The weight on the tractor will not hurt one bit, but be careful trying to lift anything so it doesn't collapse onto the hood. It looks like it came down slow vs. a drop.

If the insurance covers it, be thankful.

Get a friend to come by with their Tractor, and take the pressure off of the Roof, and you can attempt to drive out.
You might secure the "Standing Post Side" so the Cross Beam doesn't let go.

Backing up looks more difficult that pulling a hitch and driving forward.

Set up the Helper Tractor to one side so you can backup and then forward.

You don't need to lift the roof off, just take the pressure off the Tractor and lift the Roof just high enough to get out form under.

Good Luck

Thanks to all of you for the replies.

Yes, the snow is melting :) and yes, it would be nice if the carport had been built better. But, it was there when I bought the place and has withstood tremendous 50mph wind gusts all these years. It is/was flat without pitch (now there's a big spout for the water to drain off :D) Maybe when it's rebuilt it will be better.

So, say I get a couple of guys to try to jack the roof up...good luck finding anybody around here to do anything except play on their phones, let alone with the right tools for the job...and the whole thing comes tumbling down and one of them gets hurt, who pays for the injuries? I've never made an insurance claim and don't know how any of it works.

Now that the snow is melting, there is m-u-d. The kind that is called snot-on-snot and it has no bottom and your boots end up weighing a ton. Myself, I plan ahead and get in supplies, hay, water ,etc. If you don't...you WILL get stuck on the 2 mile dirt road. When I moved in 10 years ago I hired a carpenter to do some interior work. As soon as the fall rains came, he quit and said he never works until late spring after it dries!

Yep, the roof looks like it is just balanced on the ROPS and it's acting like a fulcrum. I think if it's lifted, it could cause the off-side to give way? I also noticed the left rear tire is bulging. They all have ballast.

Insurance adjuster still hasn't called. Is State Farm typically this slow?

Will keep reading your replies and posting updates.

Yikes! is right! From the pictures it doesn't look like you will even need your insurance... yet. Whether you do later depends on if the tractor gets damaged before you get it out from under the leanto. I would do as others have already suggested, adding more lumber to brace it before doing anything else. Then you might implement the loader to lift it, again as previously mentioned. The biggest concern isn't doing more damage as sheet metal can be fixed; rather, getting the tractor out without anybody getting injured. I would be wearing my hardhat if working on that project.

I just went by talk of damage and so forth. Took a better look at the pictures. I agree, I see no damage. Not yet. It would be a shame to do something and cause damage to the Tin at this point, which might barely be covered under a deductable.

Are there no TBNers around to help?

As always, much of the answer of a question depends on what resourses the OP has at their disposal and this is often not even hinted at.

this is where a tractor with long forks is needed, just lift up the roof, and get the tractor out by towing it with another.. unless you can remove the roof with the tractor with forks..
