From the pictures it looks like about 8" of snow. If so, there is 1 1/2 to 2 tons of snow on that roof.

I agree with others that the tractor is not and probably won't be damaged. Whether you wait for the insurance adjuster or not should be up to you but I wouldn't go near it until the snow melts if weather predicts that to happen. Even then great caution should be exercised when the roof is jacked up and the tractor is moved. After the snow melts it looks like one could gently jack the roof where the missing post is and back the tractor out.

Here's a pic taken the next morning after the storm and from the house. I've been comparing how much the rear post is leaning to the ones taken 1 1/2 days later. It's leaning a lot more



I wish I was younger/braver but since I'm 70 and live alone, there's no way I can risk going under that roof mess to start the tractor. It's just too scarey.

I sure needed my "red friend" today to help unload and move bales of hat. Had to use a sled. No fun :sigh:

Hope it all works out, but I would start the tractor and raise the FEL slowly until it hits the center beam. From one of the picture it looks like it would/could raise the center beam a few inches on the lower side while a support was nailed where the missing post was. At your own risk of course.

Ya' know, at the very least, I might be inclined to drape some/several old blankets, quilts or other heavy cloth over the hood to protect it from scratches or gouges.

Judy, I don't know how things work in your area, or in the US, but around here we have a volunteer organisation called the State Emergency Service (SES). Practically every town has a unit, along with a volunteer Rural Fire Service... everything is standardised within the State and even interState.

Do you have something like this that you could call for assistance? Could your local Fire Brigade help?
