Most the gears have a nice click into and out of gear. The Shuttle lever hits the dash before I feel any clicks. Maybe the missing ball belongs on the shuttle shaft. I'll remove the shuttle lever and put a small bend in it to see if the dash was obstructing full engagement.

If I have to re-install the ball will the castings need spliting and shaft need removal or can this be easily done through the top cover? If the ball isn't thereI'm guessing the spring may also be damaged . Unless the spring is short enough so it won't hit notch in shaft. Anyway I will leave things as they are until I can put a bend in shuttle shaft and give it a test drive.

Thanks!

Hey Tim,

Is there a top cover where the Shuttle Lever is located? If so, wouldn't it be more proper to take the cover off and take look and see what is going on? Before makeing a bend in the handle?

I mean, if you jump the gun and bend it and then need to bend it back.

Hold off on the hammer.

Have a nice day,

Before you remove covers or bend anything, what has your dealer said? It is still under warranty isn't it?

The handle needs a bend in it. we bend every one we put together, we have been doing it since the shuttle was moved to the steering column. If not you will bang your knuckles on the dash, the bend is only about 10 degrees, made about 5 or 6 inches up from the end of the lever. IF after you bend the lever, it does not click into position, than you might have a missing detent ball.

I'm hoping the mysterious Ball is just a freee gift from those generouus Chinese workers. They seem to give away lots of nice stuff like washers in the Oil Pump and Wrences in the Lift Box!

If the Shuttle lever still doesn't click after putting a slight bend in it to avoid hitting dash, but does not greep out of gear than I suspect there will be no harm done by leaving things alone.

If however the Shuttle lever starts to creep out of gear due to posible missing Detent Ball than I probably have some surgery to perform. Also I'm hoping that without the ball the spring isn't long enough to grind away on the shaft during shifting. All I have seen is the Parts book and have no experience like Chip has. Hopefully he can comment again on the risk of running without the detent ball, if it's missing at all.

I try to be an optimist (or I'm just lazy) and suspect I'll be OK by leaving things alone.
