I finally got around to servicing the YM14, it had a few horrid rattling noises that i have tracked down to the deck clutch shaft and also the drive shaft from the clutch housing to the transaxle. the mower deck drive is off the front of the motor via a double uni'd shaft with a splined end that is worn badly thus wobbling badly, the drive shaft has exactly the same problem,the spline is worn and the shaft wobbles making some awful noises. what could be done to improve these shaft splines with maybe something better? they do need some in/out movement as the engine does move around a bit.i may have to look at re- engineering them if i cant get replacements at worst. looking at them i dont think they have ever been lubricated and i dont want to just leave them as this will flog out bearings and posibly the front crank seal as the front shaft is really out of balance.
