Here is a page out of a 226 book, I imagine it would be much like yours. Hope it's large enough to read. I think it will be if you enlarge your screen size. Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully, I'll have a little time free from work today to look at the tractor.

Thank you guys so much. As my wife would said the tractor guys rock. I followed the instructions that you guys gave me and took apart the pressure relief valve. What i found was that the springs looked fine. When I examined the cylinder I was surprised to see a small indention on the side that looked like a tuft of brown hair. The hole was completely clogged with some kind of foreign matter. I cleaned this out and reassembled the pressure relief valve. This was all it needed.

I pushed about 2 yards of dirt back into a hole left by my septic contractor and never had a moments hesitation.

Thanks again.

so - can anyone explain how to adjust with the shims the powershift characteristics? Mine is a little harsh at the moment - so I tried adding a small washer to the 'small' spring in the above mentioned valve - there was little change.

guyd, sounds to me like your problem is just opposite if I'm understanding right. If your shifting is a little harsh (too fast) that would indicate high pressure. Adding shims should increase pressure even more.

I'll remove some then..... :)

I know this is a old thread but I have some questions along the same lines. I have a ym2620 with the power shift and it slips when it's in first and reverse gear (on column) doesnt mater what range it's in. But does fine with 2nd and 3rd gear ( column), no matter the range. please help.

Read the thread. Powershifts are all basically the same.

My main question is weather or not the delay relief valve would make it act like this? He was having problems in all gears I'm only having them in 2. Also where is the relief valve on this tractor? Thanks in advance.
