Perhaps the clutch is stuck. Turning the bolt at the front of the engine causes the tractor to move forward slightly when the clutch is either depressed or undepressed. I will start working on the motor. At one time I think one of my kids put water in the diesel tank. I had tried to drain out just the water until the diesel ran free of water. However, I have not had it running since. About 3 or 4 years ago I had the injectors worked on but still no luck. Recently I still found a little water in the diesel tank I drained it completely and tried to let it dry for a few weeks. I will report if I can get the motor started. thanks for your help on the clutch diagnosis.

You have a stuck clutch then.
Depress clutch.. leave it like that overnight.. use a wood block or brick.. now.. there are various ways to unstick.
Tie clutch down, Start in gear and drive around hitting both brakes.. or drive in figure 8's and hit brake on opposite sid eof turn.. ie.. turn left.. hit right brake.
I've also seen people put a mower ont he pto, and bump the starter over with a good strong battery, having the clutch tied down and pto engaged.. this usually shock it apart.
Once it dos brake loose.. slip the clutch a few times to knock off any surface rust.
For a while aftr that.. block the clutch when not in use till you get to using it regularly.

You can remove the whole unit without taking off the shifter assy on top by just undoing the four bolts on the bottom. This is not necessary though. I agree with Normde2001 and Soundguy. You have a stuck clutch. I would first try the advice Soundguy gave before going to more "aggressive" measures.

Make sure you slip it a little, and then keep it blocked till you can get some regular use on it.

You know, I understand why they block the clutch plate down, to keep the disc from rusting to the flywheel, but it seems like after a while that would stretch and weaken the clutch pressure plate springs, and you'd have to replace that PP early...........

My NH unit came with a factory wood block... And i know of some old ford tractors that the owners keep the clutch blocked permanently when not being used... ( some are on OEM clutches... )

Would it help to block the pedal only half way down (ie to prevent the getting stuck, while not weaking the whole thing over time)?
