10 at last count.
Actually getting the '2nd' tractor was the hardest. once over that hump.. the other ones are easier.
As ole' Roger Welsh of allis chalmers fame has said.. Never 'number' your tractors.. give them names. He says nothing draws attention to the amount of tractors you have by sayin ' #24 seems to be running a bit rought today.."
Also.. he says to tuck them all in different palces.. don't line them up in a row.. he says that to a woman.. that looks like a big pile of burning money...
Sometimes you can get away with a tractor that is intended for a specific job.. For instance.. i hurt my back a couple/few years ago and needed a tractor with a loader.. I found a nice running 1955 ford 660 with rare-ish 1-arm loader... It was odd enough to be kinda 'cool' to my wife.. and it did the jobs of feeding the animals for a few months while my back healed...
Sometimes you can get by on pure oddity. I restored a 1949 allis chalmers model 'G'.. a rear engine small 9 hp cultivating tractor..
Then of course.. utility. " Well. i need a big tractor to mow with.. cause mowing is taking up so much time on that 30hp/5' mower job I have."... That usually gets you a decent tractor.. Of course.. you then need to go buy a mower for that big tractor.... later one when you get a good deal on a 'good beater' mower you get that one too.. spend lots of time and money on fixing it up.. and then you have 2 good mowers.. er.. but then you might need a backup 'large' tractor to run that backup mower.
And heck.. having a 2nd tractor always makes jobs easier.. especially when you need a boom pole to help lif the hood off your tractor when you need to rebuild something.. And of course.. sinc ethe 2nd tractor is tied up fixing the first tractor.. then you need a 3rd tractor to actually get the work done.. Of course.. it can't be the big or the backup big tractor.. it needs to be a small one.. cause the big guys are too large to do the small work...
Sometimes if you say it all fast.. you can confuse them..... heck.. i think I even believe it myself when i say it fast enough..
