YM2000 hydraulics seem "weak"

Ya gotta start with a hyd gauge.. at least 3000 psi.. then find a port to plumb it to.. etc.

On old fords, we chain the lift arms down, per the manual, and watch the gauge as we runt he touch control, and see the pressure rise and then level off.. where the pressure levels off is where your relief pops.

I adjusted the little lever on the port side of the spool valve and the mower does raise up a little "easier". You still have to run up the throttle, but it definitely made it lift better. Any more thoughts?

Soundguy, I guess I will take it to shop, as I don't have the necessary tools for the pressure check. Thanks though!

with the lift up as far a it will go. Shut off the rngine and let it set with the lift up. Soes it leak down? If it does then most likely you have a leaking hufro cyl.

Thanks Normm, I will try it. If it does leak down, do you mean the hydraulic lift piston or do you mean what they call the "hydraulic control valve " (HCV). The HCV is where the line from the hydraulic pump connects, just under the seat. When you move the 3 point lever, it acts on a little pushrod on the HCV. The HCV also has the little lift control lever referenced ealier in this thread. Thanks everyone again.

Could be either.. or both. inthe end.. there is a leak somewhere, i fthe lift won't stay up.. cyl is first suspect usually.

On the same topic, withough meaning to hijack(this may help no20fan as well)....

My YM2000 lift only operates(and does so well,so it may not be a problem:confused: ) at the top 2" of control travel.. Is this normal? Its been that way since I bought it and really havent givin it any thought untill reading this.. I have become used to it, dont see anything wrong, but it seems odd... This tractor is realy my only experience with Yanmar, so, do you guys think this is normal?? Should'nt my lift move throughout the whole throw of the control lever?

If it was a ford.. i could tell you exactly what it is... A cam pin that is worn down not actuating the control.. or a unit that the quad is out of adjustment.

Just for the heck of it.. check the linkage that operates the plunger under your seat.. assuming the 2000 is similar to the 1700.. check to see if the little finger isn't worn way down..

I'll check it again, but it didnt appear to have excessive wear when I glanced at it in the past... Good idea, thanks..

Even if it isn't worn.. observe the plunger motion and the 3pt as you lift the hytrol handle.. observe at what plunger position the 3pt starts to lift.. is there excess play? does the 3pt come all the way up?

Perhaps it is a clogged intake valve?

Thanks for all of you taking the time to help out with this. Here is some more info:

Today I took the mower off, and used my box blade to clear a hedgerow. The 3 point lift worked like crazy. It would slam the implement up if I moved the control lever. I raised the box blade up and killed the engine, and it stayed up. I will try this same test with the heavier mower tomorrow.

HGM, my 3 point lever doesn't lift the implement until it is the last 2/3 rds of the control lever travel as well (interesting!).

I bought a big zero turn mower to mow my property, so I guess I will just live with the lift issue and the finish mower because I will quit using the Yanmar to mow. I am just the type that wants it to pick up the mower because it should!

This little tractor works hard and I am glad I bought it.
