I recently bought a really nice ym2000 but it does have one draw back, the 3pt hydolics will keep the implement up in the air while the motor is running but will drop to the ground with in 5minutes when the motor is off. Wondering if it a tough job to replace the "seals" in the 3pt?

Thanks
Randy

Welcome to the forum Randy

It's been a few yrs. since I bought my 2000 Had the same problem.
Can't say this a sure fix but worked on mine.Under the seat is the valve You will know thats it from the plunger. Your lift handle moves it Up is in and out is down. There is a adjustment on the left side of the valve that moves forward or back with a pin in it that stops it about 1/2 turm.Lift your 3point up and turn the adj.to the left or forward and the lift should fall or Turn the adj. to the right and it should stay or stop from falling.Make sure your full on Trans. hyd. fluid also and you might want to think about servicing the trans.fluid. and screen. My adjustment screw is straight up after I serviced it you will see the pin.Hope this might help but I'm sure there will be others on here that will be more than glad to help.

Thanks Carey,
I have tried most of what you mentioned except cleaning the hydro screen. I ordered the seals from Hoye tractor but alittle nervous about tearing into it and making a bigger project out of it. Really, it operates fine the way it is but its one of those things that should get fixed!

Thanks for you input

If you lock the lock valve between your legs under your seat does it still drop if so its the piston o rings on the 3pth of not its a leaky valve. The valve is the thing that has the hyd line bolted on top.

Randy I think I would service and set it before replacing the valve. If the piston is not leaking Good point Clemson. Thats my Half timers again seems to be getting better though. Also good to know you found Hoye.Thier tech support has alot of info on it. If you need to know anything about your 2000 Aaron or Norm are as good as they get for Tech support on that model and others as well ;)

Thanks guys!

Here is what I have done now, started it up and raised the blade. Then closed the valve (large knob under but in front of seat) . Stopped the motor and waited. It still will lower the blade in about 5 minutes. I guess it's time to try my luck and repair it. Wondering if a person can sevice the "o" rings from the front behind this valve?

Thanks again
Randy

With the valve closed and it still falls down, that means your oring seals on the 3pt hyd piston are leaking. 5 mins is not perfect but not terrible. For the time it takes unless you just want to do it now i think i would wait till it gets worse. From what i have thumbed through in my service manual you need to take of the 4 bolt plate on the back of the tractor behind the top 3pth assembly. Really it might be easier just to remove the whole top section and then remove the plate b/c i think you may need to accesss the bottom also, but i cant remember. I know that the 4 bolt plate in the back is where the pistion resides behind, though.

This might help I believe if it was me I would remove it all and make sure you are not missing anything while your at it. For me it would also be easier to work on. I'm with you also Randy It would drive me Nuts knowing I had a problem and not try to correct it.Thats right there with Run It Till It Quits Then Rig It.

You both have been very helpful. Appreciate this. I will wait until spring at this point, winter is just too cold for me in the garage here in Minnesota. I am very happy about having Hoye Tractor around to help all of us with parts ,etc. Other than this leak the tractor is simply awesome. Its all original and in very good shape. Paid $2200, only thing I have done was put the rear tire to the dish out postion for a better stance.

Thanks for help Clemson and Carey!

Thanks for the kind words Carey, although I am not affiliated with Yanmar in any way, just a customer and big Yanmar fan. Good advice, although If the 3ph does not leak down with the servicing stop valve closed, I would not worry too much about it. You really shouldn't leave an un-attended implement up in the air anyway.
