What LTMC is referring to is the lack of a ROPS and the seat belt. You are much safer in the event of a rollover with a ROPS (FLOPS) than without. They make them for your tractor and if possible you ought to look into it. Little Miami Trading Company - Compact Tractors

Or another Yanmar dealer if there is one nearer you.

A ROPS protects in the event of a side rollover or a power roll around the rear wheels.

LMTC,
I understand that tractors are inherently dangerous. I've had some close calls already. I purchased this tractor primarly to pull logs like you see in the picture. Not sure of a better way to do it.

Ditto the previous comments on ROPS and seat belts. Just be very sure that the tow line is connected to the tractor as far below the rear axle as possible.

That does NOT guarantee that a rear rollover won't happen, but does increase the force necessary to cause a rollover, thus decreasing the likelyhood. Since you said that log skidding is your main application for the tractor, you really, really need to install a ROPS/seatbelt.

Besides adding an OSHA approved ROPS, the better way is with the drawbar as intended by design....fastened under the rear end, not between the lift arms where the pivot/pull point can suddenly go above the tractor's center of gravity. Not at all trying to berate you or be caustic....just thought you might not know, and I know families who have lost loved ones like that.

Just a thought on the rear roll-over of a compact tractor. After 10 hours on my 1610D I realized it HAD to have some front weight while running a 4 foot brush hog. 240 lbs made a world of difference. Along with the weight, seat-belt, and ROPS (LMTC supplied) I feel better, not invincible, but safer. Something you may look at on your Yanmar DZEL if you do not have extra front weight already.
