The only thing u can do is, put a clear piece of fuel line from the inj. pump inlet to whatever is in line next..
& SEE if your getting any air at the inlet.. if not.. what about a stuck OPEN injector?? forcing compression back into the injector??
I've seen that happen, but it usually prevents the engine from starting..
To check, pull the stop.. & spin the engine w/ your finger over the injector where the steel line hooks to it.. u should be able to feel "air" if its allowing compression back up thru the injector.
How about fuel flow TO the inj. pump?? unrestricted..??

So i tested things out, No air leak at the injectors, Put clear hose from filter to pump, got all air out. Start up and in about 15 to 20sec small air bubbles start to form at the inlet on the pump, give it throttle and the bubbles will go away, back to low throttle, the bubbles will come back and start working up the hose to the filter. :confused2:

Bypass the Filter with the clear line from the Tank to the pump and see if it still happens. Could be the Filter Assembly could have a leak. Doesn't do it then you know you can pretty much rule the pump out. Put the filter back inline and it does it not much doubt Fitler problem.... Still does it period Inj. pump. See my point.

That was the plan for tonight.
Thanks for your time and help!

If you do that it might be a good idea to stop by the hardware store and pick up a B&S lawnmower fuel filter to temporarily bypass the suspected filter but still assure that only clean fuel reaches the pump.

That's what I found on my YM240 when I bought it. The previous owner had discarded the entire fuel filter assembly. (I soon replace this with what belonged on there).

For anybody that cares - this photo also illustrates how the US Yanmars' throttle lever is opposite the Japan version. Its push to accelerate.

Thanks for your time and help!

At least that filter looks clean and like it was recently changed...or did you put that new one on there before you got the correct assembly?

Good eye. That's the fresh filter I put on immediately after I bought the YM240. This replaced a similar generic one that had a blob of water in it.

Then I went to the local VN import wholesaler and bought the genuine filter assembly complete, off a salvage Yanmar. But its filter bowl turned out to be a size Yanmar never used! So I had to get the bowl and element from Hoye before I was back to stock. Here's an old post where I described dealing with the VN wholesaler. They were good folks but they had to take back so many warranty claims that they had a row of pretty, but useless salvage tractors out back to keep them stocked with parts. Poor quality shipped to them from their factory in VN finally drove them out of business.

And incidentally that linked thread has some of the all-stars of back then. Inspector 507 and Soundguy, this group's founders. and Wayne of LMTC, a small dealer who was always helpful with advice but eventually was driven off by ignorant and insistent arguments from a wise-a*s.

Wow I remember all those members. Everything shutting down for Wayne sure seems there was a lot more than one guy going on with a Smart Butt!! I'm still thinking about that one. I thought of him when soundguy just came up.
