I have been looking at a YM226. Current price $8000. Has Yanmar FEL, power steering. Its got dents scratches and the like and the bucket is not straight and has a few cracks. Hour meter says 659 so tractor has 1659 if not 2659. Was owned by a country club. Everything seems to work. Dealer replaced some hydro hoses, fluids did not adjust brakes though they said they would. I don't have much to compare it to, does this sound like a reasonable price?

Thanks,
Jim

Greetings...

I'd say it's a bit high, but I only have 1 purchase to go by-I picked up a YM336 with FEL (2 buckets, decent shape), ROPS, canopy, 1861 hrs for $8500 from a reputable dealer. A few scratches, but no major dents.
That said the one I purchased was several thousand less than anything else I could find...(I'm in Northern NY).

Keep the Cheer,

Where are you located at jwillh? I am considering selling my YM2620D with powersteering and FEL. It is 30hp. I would sell for $9000. It is the one in the picture by my username.

Is it a 226D (4WD)? One came up on E-Bay not to long ago. Search for Yanmar then go to completed auctions. I think those were real nice tractors and you could do a lot with it.
If you check out some of the Yanmar dealers web sites you can get an idea what Gray Yanmars are bringing. The grays of the same size would be the 1810 or 1820 I think. If you get a sense of the market maybe you could go back to the dealer and work out a little better deal or you could keep looking,Yanmars come up for sale from time to time.

Mike, the YM226 is about the same size as the 1810....maybe just a tad larger. Yes, it is a 3 cylinder of the same vintage - roughly the early to mid 1980s. The 226 came with power shift, 4wd, draft control, and optional power steering. It also had a loader specially sized for it.

The 1810 is a greymarket tractor bought new by a farmer in the Orient, and imported to the US as a used tractor. Because Yanmar makes an effort to support their older products, the greymarket Yanmars enjoy pretty good parts support. The "three number" Yanmars like the YM226 were sold in the US by Yanmar dealers. Yanmar still stocks the parts and English manuals for most US models in this country. If anything, the parts availability for the US models is better, and the manuals are excellent. There are even a few old US dealers who have factory trained mechanics.....though most have greying hair by now.

The US Yanmars tend to bring more on the used market than the nearly identical greymarket tractors.
