Glad I own a yanmar and they can keep the high dollar LS on their Forum that's for sure. I thought JD. was High Geeese!!. That time of yr. here to get everything up and going. Checked my battery day before yesterday. Sat for Months and it read 12.35. so it looks like my 11yr. old battery just may hang in there another Yr.. My starter seemed slow end of last yr. so I have a feeling I'm going to need to replace my cables. I had to replace them when my Starter went down the first time. Used a couple old marine clamps and cables I had laying around so Hey!! 10yrs.. That's on the to do list since the battery still seems to be good. I can only check volts not AMP's so will see.

That shows measuring up to 400 amps DC using the clamp. I've never seen a clamp meter that would measure DC, only AC.

Edited: I went and read the reviews on Amazon. Several owners confirmed this can measure DC amps, up to 400 amps. Its not a Klein or Fluke but for ~$25 it looks like a good buy.

If there wasn't any shops around me. Which I have all the Big chain I'd hop on that also!! There all check it for free. But I only have 2 12V batteries to keep up with now. My truck and the Yanmar. Just replaced the Truck. This winter killed it. Went to start it and it barely turned the motor over. Poped the hood 11.85.. It was Still under Warranty so they didn't even check the amp's. Now back Yrs. ago I'd be on that meter also more of just to have it handy.

if Fluke can do it, then others can too. it uses hall effect sensors to measure the DC current.. Clamp Multimeters | Fluke 325 True-RMS Clamp Meter | Fluke

Sears used to sell one that didn't have any electronics, it had channels you put the wires in, there were 2, for high and low range, it worked on electromagnetism. it seems that type is not sold anymore, though..
