***UPDATE 12/22/2024, Sunday***

I messaged my mechanic earlier and he said he’ll be installing the new cylinder head on my tractor tomorrow morning, the 23rd. I plan on being at his shop for 7:00am so I can take pictures of the progress. I sure hope everything goes smooth with no issues.

My mechanic had something that came up yesterday and didn’t get to install the new cylinder head. As of now unless something changes, it’ll be this Thursday, the 26th.

Well, I have another update for today, 12/24/2024, Tuesday.

When will the bad news end?

My mechanic was able to work on my tractor some this morning. He was cleaning the block up and found bent head studs and a helicoil sticking out of the block!

I called Fredricks and spoke with Danny. They are sending a used set of studs and a helicoil set.

I had a hunch from your earlier post of the bolts not looking so concentric.

When installing new helicoils into the 40 year old block, use Loctite 2620.

Follow these steps, read them carefully. A clean work area is a must.

Talk it over with your mechanic too.

Had them stay inserted but the bent stud it pretty much didn't stand a chance removing it and the Threads staying in.

More problems with the tractor but I don’t want to jump to any conclusions. Waiting on Fredricks to call me back. I’ll be updating soon, stay tuned!

***UPDATE 05-02-2025 Friday***

Good news! Fredricks is sending a good used timing gear case cover, and all the parts that goes with the cover (seals, o-rings, gaskets).

They are also paying for the labor to a local tractor repair shop of my choice, in my area.

All the parts are supposed to arrive today. I plan on taking the tractor to the mechanic one day next week.
Fredricks Equipment is doing the right thing to make things right. They are standing behind what they sold me, and I’m thankful for it.

I’ll send another update once I get the tractor back from having the timing cover replaced.

***UPDATE 05-05-2025 Monday***

I was going to install the new air filter yesterday and found a big problem with the air cleaner housing. The inner tabs were broke off inside the housing that holds the air filter in place!

The reason the tabs were broke off is because whoever installed the small, incorrect air filter, broke the tabs off to try and make the small filter fit inside the housing!!
It came back from Fredricks like this after the engine rebuild and I’m not happy about it.

Also, it was plumb filthy inside the air cleaner housing and this was a freshly rebuilt engine!! I wiped the inner filter housing out with a new blue paper shop towel. See attached pictures.

With that said, I sent Fredricks an email with pictures yesterday explaining everything I found. I didn’t get an email or phone call back from them this morning before noon, so I called them.
Danny said things were very busy. Said he’d read the email but didn’t see the pictures. He opened up the email while I was on the phone with him and looked at the pictures. He said he would be shipping out a filter housing to me. I told him to include a return shipping label and I’d ship the old housing back to them.

I received a notification from FedEx this evening that I’ll be receiving a shipment from Fredricks in a couple days.

Again, I’m not happy at all about this, but at least they’re standing behind the tractor they sold me.
