There's an inch of play in my PS link. There's a zerk but nothing like a boot. Have I lost a part? Steers fine.

Have you tried tightening that bolt a little to reduce the amount of play? Or perhaps put some washers in there to take up the slack.

That bolt in the link end looks like a quick DIY attempt to repair.
I suspect a stud snapped off and they welded a nut and used an on hand bolt to re attach.
It is too long and allows the rod end to slide from side to side.

Easiest cure might simply be a new shorter bolt, that or a bunch of washers to close up all the space on the outer side.
That rod end is not supposed to move from side to side.

Thanks - The nut is a lock nut I think. The end of the bolt is flush with the back side of the bracket. The nut was a little loose and I've snugged it up. I might try washers. I'm wondering if there was a spacer originally. I have not been able to find a picture.

The inner 'ball' is never meant to move, all action is the outer section that pivots around the captive 'ball'.
That is but a DIY field repair.
Actually U could drill the back flat piece and snugly bolt that back together and let the ball do its work.
