This week I bought one and do not have a manual as of yet. I used it several hours today with a tiller and could not get the tiller to go to a set position easily. Rasing the lift lever resulted in the tiller not responding for a while then it would go all of the way up not just a little. Same thing on the lowering. I could not set the depth with any accuracy at all with the lift lever. Thanks for your thoughts.

sounds like you don't have position control on your tractor, some don't- either up or down, no inbetween

Unless you know for sure when the last time the hy/trans pickup screen was cleaned and fluid changed, I would start with that. A dirty screen can cause the erratic behaviour you describe. You should be able to tap the lever up or down and move the implement by fractions of an inch.
