There's a nice YM336D (4WD) for sale nearby me. This is the US model, right? Where can I find the specs on this model? I checked Hoye and searched this forum but no luck.

Tractordata has some, and a link to the Nebraska test here.

I was hoping to find some dimensions like length and width... :D

length...with 3 pt hitch........122.3''

without 3 pt......112.6''

overall width ( min).........57.9''

wheel base....68.9''

I don't know if the rear wheels on the 336 has the x tra lugs that allows for x tra width or not. My 3110 has these lugs

Ok, so I was considering upgrading to a YM2210D from my YM1700, and I came across someone selling a 336D with a loader for a good price. I have been doing various jobs with my YM1700, including pulling a 5' finish mower to mow about 2 acres of lawn with some mild hills. I can tell from using the YM1700 (standard gear) that the Powershift transmission would make the job easier Question: Opinions on whether the 336D is going to be too big a beast for this? (too heavy? turn radius too big?)

You will notice a huge difference in the upgrade to the 2210D, but if you can get the 336D for not much more then you were going to spend on the 2210, I would get the 336D just because, more HP the better, at least for me.

I have a ym2210 with Allied loader, you buy that 336D and find it to big, I'll trade you.

Is a paint roller too big? Is a chipping brush too small?

I think it depends on how open and large an area you're dealing with, and what you need to do. On my 2 acres of trees, even the YM2000 is sometimes too big to tuck underneath the trees to mow or disk. The maneuverability of the smaller and shorter 186D lets it do things the larger tractor can't. Conversely, my bigger International Harvester 464 can disk all the open areas in the rows between the trees twice as wide and three times as fast per pass. It doesn't have a hope of getting under the trees, or even close to them.

I'm sure the 2210 will pull your mower faster and more easily. The extra weight and 4 wheel drive will let it use larger implements, or the same ones faster compared to your 1700, in the same size package, roughly. The 336 is markedly larger. There's nothing wrong with that, and it can be a definite advantage, but, especially with a loader, it's going to be a much bigger machine. If your 2 acres of lawn is open and unobstructed, and you have no
other places to fit that are small, the 336 will be fine. But if you are having trouble dodging obstacles with the 1700, I think the 336 with a loader will be too large.

One thing about dimensions: they aren't always "truthy." The YM2000 is 44 inches wide, while the 186 is 42.9, and length numbers including the hitch are 108 and 98.3. The numbers mislead: the 186 is much more compact, even with the 2000's wheels set at minimum width. The 336 is a lot bigger machine than the 1700, if you haven't laid eyes on it yet. I'm not trying to talk you into or out of one or the other. I don't know what limitations you have encountered with your current setup. I think the 2210 would be like a mega-1700. The same, but vastly more productive. The 336 is bigger and more capable yet, but may feel like a dually crewcab pickup in a Costco parking lot.

A heavy loader like the 336 has is remarkably useful. I'm always finding ways and reasons to use one that I never even considered I needed help doing. Things that used to be nuisance are now fun, or at least no longer a challenge. Nothing gets in the way like a loader, either, except a brush mower. Unfortunately, you are the only person who knows what will work or not work for you. On the plus side, those are both good machines, and enough of a change that it is worth considering.

I will also say the loader is in the way some, especially when just trying to mow or hawg. makes turning in tight areas a pain in the A..but I still wouldn't do without one if given the choice, but just for mowing I think you are good with the 1700 to be honest.

I use my tractor plowing food plots and loader work pushing fallen trees and brush into piles, I only use it in my yard when I aerate it. So the larger the tractor the better for what I use it for, always wanted a large yanmar but my 2210 does everything I need just takes a bit longer.

I have 3 acres I bush hog 1 -2 times a year, and my YM1700 struggles to cut it with my 4' rotary mower; have to go verrry slow. It does just fine pulling my 5' finish mower, although I would really like to have Powershift...

If it's a good price & it runs/ looks good buy it.. If you don't like it you can always sell it.. I like mine . I wouldn't be happy with anything smaller

That is one really nice thing about buying used. You can always turn it around and sell it for what you paid +/-.

Its only a foot wider or a bit more so than your 1700 and will pull 6' attachments and its a sister to mine also like kenmac's.

I can attest for the fact it uses very little fuel being as big as they are and being 3 cyl's. That wont be an issue if there is going to be one which I dont see happening.

I think it will serve you well its the right sized tractor for me anyway. I do a lot of stuff with mine, mine is a gray market so far haven't had any problems with parts knock on wood.

You will love the powershift and loader and 4wd.

Can anyone post a picture of a person sitting on the 336 or gray market equivalent?

Look at Domush's video of his on the "336 knocking" thread maybe that will tell you what you need to know?

Watched that -- poor guy! I hadn't been reading that thread. That's painful.

I was hoping to get an idea of size, but in that video it's shooting an a strange angle upward and the hood is also up. So... if anyone has a pic of themselves sitting on a 336 (or similar size) please post.

YM336D is a great size if you ask me... I did just sell mine (old image above this post, many more in the link in this thread to Picasa: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/yanmar/230126-ym336d-potentially-sale-upstate-ny.html ), but what I am getting is basically the same size. If I had been able to purchase a fully enclosed cab for my YM336D I'd likely still have it (Neither Curtis or Laurin could help). Great tractor. At least on mine the loader came off fairly easily (quick connects and loosening two nuts) and had an integrated stand. I never took it off much though as I found it was nimble enough. As you can see in the images the tires can be set wider.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me (or you can try responding to this post, though I may or may not see it as I'm not on TBN as much as I was a decade ago).

I actually drove over today (2.5 hours each way) to see the YM336. It wasn't in as good of condition as he intimated, for example, the bucket on the loader was really beat up -- I guess that's why the pictures he showed in the ad were from the side and the back.

Anyway, I decided it was too big and heavy. Compared to my YM1700, it was lumbering beast -- no offense, to those who have them, but I couldn't see myself pulling a mower with it. According to the data I found, the weight comparison is 1800 lbs vs. 3100 lbs for the YM336D (plus the weight of the loader if it's on.) I think I ought to stick with the YM2210D or maybe the YM2310D (2200 lbs and 2125 lbs respectively.) If I wasn't planning to mow my yard (and need to maneuver around some things in the process) it would be awesome to own such a powerful machine as the 336D.

Yep . About 3100 # plus about another 500 or so for loader. 3110D/ 336D. Good machines if you need that much tractor. Sometimes, I want more 40- 50 Hp. But, I have some tight spots on my property that is tough to get the 3110 to
