Rake York Rake

Hey guys, I am looking for a good low cost (under $500) York Rake preferably with gauge wheels. Anyone have any suggestions? I guess I need either a 5' or 6', not sure if longer is better... I have a 3010 kubota if that matters.

Oh, if anyone has a lead on a used rake I'd love to hear about that too.

Measure your outside wheels and add a foot. Usually you use the rake at an angle and want to cover your rear tracks. For instance, my rear width is about 6 feet, so I got a 84" rake. For reference, I paid $425 for a used medium duty Bushhog brand without guage wheels, which I sometimes wish I had.

I have a L3010 HST Kubota. 2yrs. ago I bought new a Land Pride 1584(translated means grp15 vs.grp25&35,7'width)with gauge wheels.I paid almost $800. Wheels are a must makes the unit so much more versatile.I personally would not go smaller than 7'. <font color="orange"> </font>

I think you might to have to settle for used for under $500. I paid $650 for a new 5' Woods with guide wheels.

I built my own 72" rake for less than $350. The cost would have been lower if I had used scrap steel instead of new steel.

Do a search on Leinbach rakes - I got the 7' without wheels for around 400$. The gauge wheels are around 250$. I beleive the model number was LR507.

Hey, now building my own sound interesting! I'm a fairly decent welder and I think it wouldnt be all too difficult.. I assume the tough part is drilling a lot of evenly spaced holes in some angle iron.

Madref... you wouldn't happen to have any plans or pictures of the rake you made to get me started. I guess I can get the tines at Central Tractor...or whatever they're called now.

Corriher has them for a decent price but no guide wheels. $366 for a standard duty 72".

They get $ 150.00 or so for wheels ( at least they did ! ). They have changed their shipping ways a bit and shipping costs have gone way up. When I got my 6' box blade series 30 ( HEAVY ) it cost $ 50 to ship from NC to MA. They quoted something like $ 100 to a business and $ 175 shipping to a residence to ship me a 8' rake. Check their website for info...you'll find likes around here, they advertise here.

If I made a home-built rake with 72" size, it made of new steel wouldn't cost me more than $200-250.

I doubt you could build one for less than $300 unless you got the steel for free. Here is the breakdown on what I spent.

Steel $120
2-hole tines from Agri-Supply $138
G8 nuts/bolts mostly from McMaster-Carr $70
3pt and misc hardware $25

total is $353

I do not have plans or specs since I built it on the fly but I guess I could draw them up. I built it using a landpride unit as a guide but not exactly and I did make it extremely heavy duty. I beat the crap out of it this past summer and was very pleased with performance and quality of my construction. If I can get my son's digital camera I will get a few pics and start a new thread.

Paul;-), I said only $200-250 - If I were able to buy in bulk, I'd make it for a cost of less than $200. Don't you know the apple prices aren't same in a world of free-market? Even the land prices change from place to place, you know.. free-market.

This place is located about 10-15 miles inside the Pa line.FAntastic prices on everything!!!!Give them a call
I think my 7 foot rake was $325 or something like that
They talked about a price increase this year due to steel prices going up

Hey thanks for the tip. I'm on the Eastern Shore not very far from PA at all. I think I have even past the place you are talking about on one of my business trips. $325.00 is a really great price! If the still have them it would definitely beat building one.
