My '96 Dodge 1 ton diesel looks better every time I look at it
Maybe part of the plan to get everyone into an EV?IMHO it will get worse price wise unless the economy takes a big dump.If fuel prices continue to rise folks will dump PU trucks for better fuel mileage cars.
Just out of curiosity what vintage were those trucks? The old ‘50’s vintage or were they a bit newer?Long ago the Forrest Service had Power Wagons. Two door - six cylinder. Used for lighting strike fires - rapid deployment - fire suppression. Thats where I learned to love those old vehicles. 400 gallon water tank and 36" hydraulically controlled single disk out back. Off we would go - cross country - disking and hosing small start ups. Summers between my JR - SR year in high school.
A lighting bolt would hit a steel T-post barbed wire fence. Could start a fire with a half mile front.
I was young - I was fearless - the days were long - the adrenaline flowed like a mighty river. Four of us young fellows on each power wagon. Driver - navigator - fire suppression - hydraulic disk operator.
I think there’s a lot of truth to that.Maybe part of the plan to get everyone into an EV?
Still love my 99 F250 7.3 SD super cab. 156,000 miles. I bought used 16 years ago and have worked out all the little bugs. The only thing I don't like about it is the older ones have a much more limited payload than the newer ones. It even says in the manual do not put a camper on this truck. The 7.3 is almost wasted with an 1800 pound payload. I'm just careful about my tow weights. No living quarters horse trailer with this truck. Right now the KBB is going up!Thee and me. My old '97 Chevy half-ton is in fact 'getting old'. Friends and family are constantly telling me "buy yourself a new or newer truck".
If I priced my used Chevy the way the fool company Banner Ford is pricing that 3/4 ton, I'd be asking more than the $15K that I paid when new. Although it only has 135K on the clock, tax value is only $684! I'm only driving about 2K per year on it though. Nah - my old truck is just fine for my limited needs. Banner can keep their pile of 'gold' right there on their lot and look at it every payday as far as I'm concerned. The day come come, soon I hope, that people will come to their senses.
Yep... the goal is "Retirement" of older vehicles...My '96 Ford F250 has only 112K miles and is running great. I did some needed maintenance - full tune up, fixing the AC, etc. The problem is I just paid the registration at $295 plus $70 to smog it! I only drive it 1500 miles a year but they don't take that into account. The government wanted to buy it for $1000 to get it off the road! It is definitely a keeper.
Mine also has an extended cab, 8' bed and huge engine but very reliable. I finally replaced the tires that were on it when I bought it. They were 15 years old! Gas is so high in CA, cost me $110 to fill it up last time. I added shocks in the back to improve towing.Yep... the goal is "Retirement" of older vehicles...
Gave my nephew same vintage F150 4wd with 5spd and 6 cylinder... one owner used for fishing... not a scratch in the bed or anywhere else..
He sold it for 6500 when he went off to school.
With the extended cab and long bed it was the best riding truck I have ever driven...
