1999 F-150. Dented farm truck but runs well. I'll be passing it to my heirs.
What kind of battery is that?I have a 2005 Jeep with 27K miles on it. Average 1,600 miles per year. No tender. On it's second battery.
Has it been worthwhile keeping that truck in running condition? I have a 2004 BMW X5 with 70,000 miles on it. I plan to keep it going but every time I took it to my mechanic for annual check up and maintenance and suggested he replaced big items like serpentine belt, he would talk me out of it. His rationale was that if it ain't broke don't touch it; the replacements wouldn't be worth it because the car is worth nothing on the market now and I would be better off getting a new car.1999 F-150. Mopar factory. Not sure on the replacement would have to look. What kind of battery is that?
I travel abroad quite a bit and away at east 6 months a year. Cars (three of them) on battery tenders. Drove each of them no more than 3000 miles a year. I never found out if their batteries could have lasted like yours without tenders.
FYI, denigrating a specific dealer is against forum rules. Updated January 2022.
good insight......Yes that is the planMaybe part of the plan to get everyone into an EV?
yes you live in CA and unfortunately that "climate" disease is now in Oregon and Washington........carbon tax anyone? My '96 Ford F250 has only 112K miles and is running great. I did some needed maintenance - full tune up, fixing the AC, etc. The problem is I just paid the registration at $295 plus $70 to smog it! I only drive it 1500 miles a year but they don't take that into account. The government wanted to buy it for $1000 to get it off the road! It is definitely a keeper.
I have the same gripe. Also, the new GM radios suck, for lack of a better way of putting it. There are times when I can't get anything to come in. I would love to throw my old Supertuner III in it, but can't because of their proprietory sound system.Another nuisance device are these so called infotainment centers. They are far worse than a cell because they absolutely demand you take your eyes off the road. Secondly the touchscreens are very unforgiving….if you reach yo touch the pad and hit a bump you are not likely to get what you intended. Sometimes it wii complete take you to another function that requires you to spend more time with eyes directed at the screen. I like my old radio with push buttons that will not activate with the slightest touch. Lots of marginally useful gimmicks.
