Sure there were...see the top right corner of the screen not quite a third of the way in this clip...

The Wild Wild West - 1966 - YouTube

NOW you're talking cheesy. I used to watch that show religiously, and could never understand how my parent's could leave and go to bed during a commercial break. One episode was about a bomb maker who's explosions created mushroom shaped clouds... like Artemous Gordon their villains tended to be ahead of their times.

I agree that show was not only cheesy it was also hammy...!

My point didn't really have anything to do with the actual show other than the time period represented...(it was the only clip I could find without a more elaborate search)...

...There are several instances of airplanes and contrails etc. in movies depicting dates that precede airplanes etc...

I remember one episode where Artie and Jim were relaxing in their train car after the caper was resolved like they usually did at the end of the show. Artie makes a comment that the villain had made some mention of planning to send pictures and sound through the air and capture them is a small box where they would be shown to people. Artie says something like 'can you imagine anything so ridiculous?'

Now I'm getting off topic, but someplace I have one of those books on woods lore and woodcraft from the 1940's that you see advertised in Fur-Fish-Game.
In it they describe everything which you need to go off into the wilderness for the winter, including wool blankets. Then they describe a new invention called a 'sleeping bag", and make the comment "I don't see them becoming very popular.

The wristwatch was a common slip up too
And the actress with the vaccination scar on the upper arm, I think it was TB, I still have mine from the 50's.

Probably Small Pox. I had about three before any of them "took"...and yeah, you're right...Roman soldiers, to my knowledge, didn't wear wrist watches except in the movies.
