I realize I am ignorant, we have the states of euphoria, intoxication, confusion, hysteria, and new holland but what are the other two:confused2:

I thought there would be some great stories on this thread .. I'm a little disappointed.

I've got quite a few stories, but one comes to mind.

I was told, that is if I cut the cat-tails, in the pond, below the water level, that would take care of them. So, I took the weed-whacker/brush cutter with the brush blade out in the boat to cut them off below the water level, thinking, the blade would have less drag. I stood up, and pulled the starter rope. I immediately fell in. The engine of the whacker was hanging from the edge of the boat. I waded out with wet wallet, etc..

There is one more, which has come to mind.

Had a decent size maple near the house, with most of the weight toward the house, which I wanted to saw down. Plus, it was right along side of the garage. I drove a stake in the ground, about 30 feet away and chained the tree to it with a come-a-long. As I sawed, I kept tightening the come-a-long. This would have worked fine, except as the tree started to fall, the chain no longer had any effect on it's trajectory. My hinge-cut was off by a couple of degrees, so a fair number of branches crashed down on the garage roof. No real damage, but I was embarrassed that my scheme didn't work better.

You're a redneck if you let the dogs skin the deer for you!

We knew you had some "pinned up" stories so we created this thread to let you loose. Give us some more good ones

One of the others, which come to mind, is my wood splitter story, which I already posted on another thread.

There is a story about my uncle, which is kind of funny.

He was plowing with the horses. He had the reins tied behind his back, to have both hands on the plow. Well, his underwear were riding up, from the reins, so he stopped the horses, removed his pants and underwear, put his pants back on and plowed the underwear under.

You might be a redneck when you let your 14 year old daughter smoke at the dinner table in front of her kids.

This thread me of how much money we are NOT saving by "growing our own" vegetables....

By the time we pay for the soil amendments, starter plants, and water bills, we're probably paying about $10 a pound for those home grown tomaters!

(Kind of reminds me of the story about the guy who decides to save money by burning wood-First you need a chainsaw ($500), 3pt pto driven wood spliter ($2,000), tractor to run the spliter ($20,000), 4wd truck to haul the wood ($40,000), and the divorce lawyer for the divorce ($10,000)......feel free to build your own version of this old joke!)

Oh, did I forget the cost of the roundup to kill it off after the weeds take it over?

The things we do for love.....But man, are they tasty! Just try not to think about how much they cost....

Please take nothing I say personally, as a slam, but gardening is something all kinds of folks try, but it is a life long skill, built upon an incredible amount of science, knowledge and experience. Lots of folks weld, but aren't really welders. Lots of folks do finish drywall and probably should not have. That kind of thing.

There are quite of few of us here on TBN that actually make their complete living at it or run "for profit" gardening enterprises. I know I do. It is actually quite profitable, if you work at it. In spite of the drought and the excessive heat, I'll turn a very tidy profit this year. Almost 60 years of experience.

But then, I know absolutely nothing about welding.

While re-building the front of our house last month, I used the tractor and chain to pull the 500 lb frame out of the wall. Pretty much a redneck move, but totally sensible.

But, I suppose the most realistic redneck symbol is to fly "the redneck flag", ie, a blue tarp, for a week or so, waiting to install the windows.
