Howdy, Mike! Actually, at one point I think Ed had a beard.

When I lived on Long Island, I owned an antique shop, and my specialty was restoring antique furniture. Many of my customers told me that they thought I looked like Ed, and even thought we were related. I often told them that we were, and I taught him everything he knows!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif At one time, the local PBS station on Long Island, even approached a cabinet maker friend and me about doing a pilot for a furniture restoration show, but it never got off the ground. We told them we could be funnier, and give even better advice. Another chance of fame down the tubes!!/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

But, I prefer to be associated with Mr. Garcia. I was part of a locally successful rock band at one point, but that's another story./w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I'm with you on that one Danny. I wish we could get rid of labels. No one is right 100% of the time, and no one agrees with anyone 100% of the time.

Boy, Mike you hit the nail right on the head! But I didn't think RichZ would want to bo compared to Ed Feldman. Besides I can't even imagine Ed on a tractor!

Thank you Wroughtn_harv. I appreciate when people put some reasoned perspective on things. I think people usually have way more in common than differences and am disturbed with the way some are pigeon-holed because of some of their points of view. Denigrating people for what they believe in serves no useful purpose except to divide and create a false sense of superiority. Especially since the examples used often are the most outrageous or indefensible. The original poster may have been trying to be funny but what he really accomplishes is anger, resentment, and weakness. The notion of having respect for others just seems to have disappreared. I blame "talk radio".

You're right, I can't imagine Ed on a tractor. Jerry Garcia was right at home on a tractor, and farming was a major interest of his. Another reason to connect me with him!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Rich, I get a kick out of watching that show! I just laugh at the way they screw up on some of the pieces of furniture! I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to talk antiques at EFD, but I'm sure everyone else would have been bored stiff! Heck, I can see John's eyes rolling back already! Maybe next time, or if you ever get down this way stop in at my shop and say hello!

I agree with you, Von! When I had my shop, and customers used to mention the Furniture Guys, I used to tell them that they're very entertaining, but I strongly reccommended that they not try anything those guys did. I used to cringe at some of the things they did to what were once valuable pieces, that were forever ruined!

And don't worry about John's eyes rolling back. That's just a condition he has. He rarely gets violent.

My wife and I have often spoken about visiting you in your shop. How far are you from the Albany area?
