Scythed a half-acre recently. Didn't trust the previous owner to have removed the boulders. In fact, I still make a point of doing each job once by hand before I do it with the tractor. I get a better feel for how much force to use, and where I'm likely to screw up.

I still have to walk the hedge tree row and other perimeter for limbs with hedge and locust thorns after a storm. Just saves a lot of tire puncture headaches. I'm not man enough to swing a scythe any more, but a sharp blade sure used to lay down some nice wheat to bundle.
