Maybe that is the case i was thinking of.

A friend's neighbor poured a house foundation right across the property line, because they referenced the wrong pin as their property corner. They had to remove the foundation and move the house over.

I saw something similar down in Portland Me, except that rather than being over the line they were simply 11" closer to the line than allowed by zoning ordinances. One neighbor wouldn't sign off so that they could get a variance; so the entire brand new McMansion had to be moved or torn down. I don't know which they did.

Seems like I could have been incentivized $$ to agree to an 11” variance had I been the neighbor.

Earlier posts say the survey guy pushed the job into June so we won't know till that's done. .

What you were told is correct. That is why the O.P. could get into trouble with the law if he followed some of the opinions in this thread.
