im sure that equipment used daily wont be as much affected as those that sit. but i still use non ethanol in everything except the wifes truck. Every mower, brush hog, chain saw, pressure washer and even the kawasaki mule get ethanol free fuel.

I would too if it wasn't $15 a gallon

The ones I have stored inside a stable temp daylight basement have never had issue yet...

The Honda in my service van not so lucky... I believe the extreme temp swings exasperate problems and the tank is not put away full either... live and learn.

Both big issues for sure.

Today is a right off, but the #1 item on my Sunday list is top-off the tank on my larger gen. Ran it for an outage lately, and still plan to do another loaded run, but other items keep pushing that out.... Tank will be filled tomorrow first thing ! (Edit - next day - Efree and tank ratio'd doses of Stabil 360 and Startron added. Loaded run to be done "soon".).

You have a humid environment, like any coastal area.... so it doesn't take much delta T to end up with tank condensation. Here, during the "Winter" season we can come close to a 30C swing, in a pretty short period of time - brutal for condensation.

Went to do January maint run ton on generator. Would not start. Electric start was firing but nothing from the engine.

Oil was already checked and full. Verified fuel line was on. Pulled spark plug. It was fouled. $2.99 later from local auto parts store.... fired right up.

Ran it for 30 min with a shop vac and 120 volt electric leaf blower hooked up.

Purred like a kitten.

Now of course Murphy says the power will not go out any time soon.

Send your neigbours the bill for the plug TM419 ! Cheap grid insurance

I was about to say I have spare plugs on the shelf for mine, but I should double check what the larger one takes to make sure it's what I think it should be..... Was in a parts store on stormy spring day, a guy my age was trying to find a small diameter NGK plug, It was out of his generator and had very high hours on it.... he had the easy job, his son was at home, manually bailing the sump.....

Should get on with the next level up of spares (myself)...... I agree with 90's recent point....... the Chonda carbs are so low cost, it makes sense to have one on the shelf, bagged with dessicant......

Then, the grid will never go down !

Yeah I really need to check and make sure I have at least one oil filter on hand as well as a couple quarts of oil.

We have 6 houses on our line. As near as I can tell I am the only one with a generator.

Power out and I still have hot coffee and hot water so all is good.

Found a gas pressure washer with a Honda Knockoff at the side of the road FREE. Would run for a minute then quit. $2.00 Plug fixed that. Thanks Internet! I would have put money on a fuel issue.

Coffee is my priority !

Funny...... Haven't pulled the plug on my big gen to check (low hours and running fine), but today checked it's Owner's Manual, then downloaded the Parts Manual - No Spark Plug listed anywhere !

Just emailed B+S to ask what it should be........ Murphy is watching, if I pull the plug, I'll crack the porcelain and the grid will be down within minutes.....

Mostly I've been fine with B+S parts availability, but can't say I'm impressed with neither manual having a plug listed !

Nice score IT ! Did it have a Chonda/PRC spark plug in it, or was it a brand we'd recognize ?

Actually it had an NJK? plug. I think. Maybe not. All was not good though as the pump was garbage. Guessing frost damage. If I ever see one cheap enough at Princess Auto, I might throw a new pump on. Had a high quality hose and wand though.

that is weird....all my B&S equipment manuals have a good parts breakdown. even list spark plug type and gap in the specification page
