Your last generator Maintenance Run

Ah. It's ONLY 12.5 KW! 1800rpm, AIr Cooled LISTER, with Stamford END, about forty years old. Runs like a swiss clock and doesn't even change tune when loaded up. VR bad. I brought him a BASLER to try.

GOVERNMENT sure knows how to spend money. On the other hand, a ship running aground, can't be taken lightly. No pun intended.

Finally visited my friends generator in person.

I misunderstood completely. I thought he built that stand and "fuel" tank. That's the way it came from the Federal Government (backup at a light house).

Stainless tank is crankcase oil reservoir!

I think he said the beast weighs 1900 pounds!

Now that is a nice low watt generator, my style machine, old slow works forever (almost)

Single 120/240.

Poor guy. Little does he know, that when he gets that project all finished and hooked up, his power will never go out again!

This thread has made me much more diligent about test runs. Today did the 6500w Honda (electric start no issue), the 2200w Honda (2nd pull), and the 30 year old Craftsman 3500w (2nd pull). I should really sell the Craftsman, the 6500w Honda is the replacement. But nobody wants an old generator and I like the old machine too much anyway.

Your neighbours should be paying you....... with Three healthy generators on standby, your grid-uptime should be stellar !

Redundancy..... hard to have too much. Was talking with a guy today, who owns a big sod-farm...... out of 4 of his forklifts, three went out of service the same day..... Murphy !

I keep my old smaller gen around, for similar reasons....

Valve clearance adjustments are so much easier and quicker using go/no go stepped feeler guages.
And a real confidence builder.

Good Luck!

Thanks, I'll check those out.

That might only be the Dry Weight

Alone, that oil pan full of oil is going to weigh a bit. No Grab N Go with this one !

Lots of rotating mass .

Wintertime..... I can see having to run that for a good while, to get that much oil up in temperature.

ill never be short of generators. The 22 on the house, the briggs 6.5 i use around the place and used to use on jobs when we were changing services, and my tried and true 30 yo champion 3,000 watter. Kind of useless due to low output...but keeps on going.
