Unless he has a real shallow pump, i cant believe a 2k generator ran it. Ive seen people have issues with wells using 5k units.

Correct.

Non-tech people in the real-world can sometimes find me too specific with verbage, but that post could have been clearer :)..... the 2kw couldn't supply 220, so the next morning when he went to pull-start his larger portable (may not have Estart on it) to run his well-pump, the pull-cord broke.

He can and does MacGyver just about anything, so that wouldn't have remained a problem for long in an extended outage, but it did get him thinking........ if it's only needed for the well..... why not go solid-state+battery bank.

He's got a super-insulated house, with a state-o-art Pellet stove that only needs a tiny amount of 120 to run.... other than that, it's mostly just electronics to run...... so the 2kw could handle 95%+ of what he needs.

Ever put your ear to the utility pole. Sounds like some MASSIVE machine running!

I think you've just come up with a new Covid Lockdown activity !

Post on youtube, you'll likely have thousands of followers in no-time :cool2:

I'm not really joking either..... there is a term for it that I'm trying to remember, but can't........ People are posting just really basic sounds (leaves, insects, or other common things), well recorded, online and getting huge followings.

i generally dont let my gen run during prolonged outage during the day, but if i had a power outage on a day like today i probably would. woke up to 15F, and while its sunny out, it feals likw it may have warmed up to 16F.

theres a wind, and it chills to the bone.

i was out in shop getting tractor all chained up and had heater on. i forget how spoiled i am. heat in shop, backup generator, 4x4 cart to get around property. its nice to be spoiled.

After I'm done with the hydro pole sounds, I could end with an "UNBOXING" of some Frito Lays Chips.

Well yeah:thumbsup: I was in the heated shop yesterday switching my tractor to plow duty while it was snowing sideways when we lost power. I was having trouble admitting to myself that it was winter.

It's also a real luxury to have redundant machines for all kinds of stuff. Nothing worse than trying to fix something when you really need it. Just go to plan "B".

YA, its deceiving. its bright sunny skies looking out the window, then i go out to throw the ball for the dog, and freeze my **** off.

I have listened to a rr track, but now I want to listen to the pole. I'll probably have forgotten this by the time my poles become power poles again. right now their just tall (non electric) fence posts holding up a few wires.
