Came home last night to no power fortunately the battery backup was doing its job and the remote garage door opener worked as it should so we could get into the house.
I have only a few critical circuits on the battery backup to maximize battery life. Went into power house and started up the MEP-952b 28 volt generator then threw 1 breaker to energize the entire house so we could take our showers. Everything worked as it should while sipping fuel at the rate of 3~4 hours per gallon.
Shut the generator down when we went to bed and used the battery backup for selected lights in the house.
The beauty of a diesel generator is that regardless of how long it sets it always starts the same.
Still struggling to get the AGS to monitor battery voltage and start/stop the generator as needed.

I like the options that a variety of power sources present.

Diesel gens + batteries were common long before "hybrid" became a thing. Many consumers (fine by me) don't want to mess with that scale of conventional battery - but in a custom system like yours 90, modern lighting and electronics can run a really long time on a battery bank, w/o firing the gen. <<< Me like that approach.....

On the AGS, is it hardware interface issues or software giving you attitude 90 ?

I believe it’s software because it works fine manually but I can’t say for sure.
When a manual start is initiated the fuel is turned on then the engine cranks & starts then it shuts down.
I’ve installed LEDs so I can observe the timing sequence and it appears it is not acknowledging that the generator is running.
I’m on my second AGS module because I though the first was defective.
What I thought would be fairly straightforward has me at a loss.
I’ve been face timing with a retired controls expert but haven’t resolved anything yet.

I'm not familiar with the AGS module.... how does it detect "Running" ?

I’m not sure!! That is what I’ve been trying to understand. The manual provides very basic wiring schematics but fails to explain in detail how & where the run signal is obtained.
I have searched the web for information but found nothing that is helpful. Support is terrible taking countless emails to get a response many weeks later.
I wish I could explain better and attach the manual it’s definitely beyond my ability’s.

Have you got a link to the unit in question? I might be able to provide an electrical engineering opinion on where to start.

Post up an AGS link 90..... TBN Generator Gang on patrol duty ! 🤠 Let's see if we can beat this AGS into line.....

As posted, I don't know that AGS.... just some general thoughts, Saturday morning coffee, before chores start here....

Detecting Running: Rotation (think Cam Sensor on a car) or actual Output. Rotation is directly what you want to know, but needs a Hall Effect sensor etc added - the documentation would have to be pretty bad to omit that Requirement. Perhaps the AGS is looking for voltage-rise, either at the generator output, or @ Load ?

If they are using Voltage detection, check for any Vsense terminals (if you've used a Bench Supply with remote sensing ability (usually comes with those terminals jumpered), something along those lines.....).

Related to Voltage Detect @ Start..... there could always be some buried software timer giving trouble, if it's looking for a certain Voltage rise vs. Time.... chase that issue, once you know If/Where the AGS detects Voltage = Run.

Low Oil Shutdown <<<< that's what I'd probably zero in on first..... If the controller has Low Oil Shutdown activated, that's going to take priority if it's not getting the signal it requires. I'd expect an aftermarket controller to have that provision, so hopefully there is enough documentation available to determine If it's There, What it Wants, or if nothing else, How To Bypass for now at least.....

"Challenging" documentation can come from all sources, but if it's a bad ChinGlish one, that just adds to the "fun"....

Modern cell phones mostly take pretty good pictures..... if you don't have a scanner handy, see if you or family can take pics of the schematics, and attach them here.....

My gen type is 7 or 8 currently using type 7 but with no pre-heat.
