Brad your idea worked.
I have just run a single tooth about 8 to 10 inches into the ground.
Nothing sheared or bent, both bolts were still loose enough to be removed by hand.
Next I really should learn to weld more neatly, but I recon I'm asking far more than my little welder was designed for.
