Thats a nice setup Red Dog. Is the 450 a 4x4 and what gears do you have in it?

Thanks! It's a 4X4 and we have the 4.30s in the rear. After driving one with the 4.88s, it just felt like the 6.4 Powerstroke was winding out too much at 60Mph...thus why we ended up with and wanting the 4.30s. It's a towing and hauling BEAST. We love it.

Here's my setup. Bought the 14K Hillsboro 22'+5' this past august. The truck is a '99 3/4Ton powerstroke. Truck pulls it OK but with the 3.88 rear it takes a bit to get it moving. On the flats its fine and pulls easy on the highway, only thing is to take it to the hunting property, theres a major grade to get from the valley to the mountains. Thats a little slow going, drop down to about 45mph. Someday a dually with 4.11's but for now.... Otherwise I love the trailer.

How's the 450, any issues with the 6.4? I'm debating going to a 450 since I'd rather have extra towing capacity rather than just enough. Thats an awesome setup. How does the 450 handle the trailer? I'm sure your know where near cap for the truck and trailer. Is that property a vacation spot for you?

GreatWhite, Yes, the property is in Northern Wisconsin and is our "get-away" from the big city (Mpls) playground and camping spot. Currently the property has no power or water, so we need to haul everything in, thus the bump from the 350 to the 450. On the trip in the picture, we had our 150 gallon water tank full in the bed, 8 bags of concrete, camping gear, generators, etc. As one can see from the pics, we defintely do NOT travel lite. After having a 7.3 and (3) 6.0 PowerStrokes, I can easily say that this 6.4 is by far the best towing setup that we have had. No issues with the 6.4 to date (knock on wood). It pulls the Imperial hauler very nicely with the load pictured. I'm in love with the trailer as well... the triple axle and with it being slung so low is a very stable platform. I had it custom built a few years ago to haul my prior tractor and a Kawasaki Mule at the time. Let me know if you have any questions... tractors and hauling are some of my favorite subjects! Guess that's why we are all here...eh?

I thought the Superduties I owned had 3.73 gears. I didn't know there even was a 3.88.

Yup Builder, you got it right. Had the numbers in my head jumbled, my truck has a 3.73 rear.

Why don't you put a chip on it or even get really wild and do a exhaust and intake while you are at it. I just sold my 1999 7.3 4x4 extended cab. It had a Quadzilla chip and 4" exhaust along with a MAC intake system. It really woke it up. I am guessing it added 100HP total. Never had a days trouble with the truck after the modification and about 45,000 miles. Finally took a deer to do that truck in. Sold it to a kid down the road who is going to fix the sheet metal and drive it.

I've been leary of putting a chip in. Seems some times it works out OK and other times I've read of it causing all sorts of problems. I''m still considering it though. My muffler is gonna go within a year or so, I may then decide on the intake/exhaust and the chip at that time. Thanks for the suggestion its good to hear the positive side of things as well.

I have put chips on all 3 of my Ford Diesels with no problems what so ever. I had the 99 7.3 with a Quadzilla, a 2004 6.0 with a PDQ then later a Quadzilla, and a 2006 6.0 Quadzilla. All got better millage, had more power, and caused no problems.
