GreatWhite, Yes, the property is in Northern Wisconsin and is our "get-away" from the big city (Mpls) playground and camping spot. Currently the property has no power or water, so we need to haul everything in, thus the bump from the 350 to the 450. On the trip in the picture, we had our 150 gallon water tank full in the bed, 8 bags of concrete, camping gear, generators, etc. As one can see from the pics, we defintely do NOT travel lite. After having a 7.3 and (3) 6.0 PowerStrokes, I can easily say that this 6.4 is by far the best towing setup that we have had. No issues with the 6.4 to date (knock on wood). It pulls the Imperial hauler very nicely with the load pictured. I'm in love with the trailer as well... the triple axle and with it being slung so low is a very stable platform. I had it custom built a few years ago to haul my prior tractor and a Kawasaki Mule at the time. Let me know if you have any questions... tractors and hauling are some of my favorite subjects! Guess that's why we are all here..

That's why I started this thread. I can't get enough of pics of trucks towing tractors. I really like the 450, I've been looking around at a few but most I've looked at have 4.88's. I'd be hauling a gn so I'd likely add a in bed fuel tank.
What kind of mileage are you getting? And if you have anymore pics be sure to post them.

Yup Builder, you got it right. Had the numbers in my head jumbled, my truck has a 3.73 rear.

I have 3.73 in my 6.0psd and pull 14k up some long New England grade without loosing speed. I always found the 7.3 a little lagging on the hills.

We get about 12.5 to 13Mpg while unloaded and keeping the speedo around 60 Mph. Anything over 60 to 65 and you start seeing the truck get pretty thirsty. While towing the load in the pics, which I would estimate around 13,000Lbs (trailer and load) and about 2,500 Lbs in the bed, we get around 8.5 to 9.0 Mpg. Here are a couple more pics. the first is with the truck before we got the topper on it and hooked up for a weekend of work and camping. The rotary cutter hangs over the back about 18", but it still fits pretty good. The second is a pic of my #2 son and I working off the Imperial (it makes for a great portable workbench) while we are working on the new driveway.

Well I guess I will finally show my toters and my little utility trailer. The first is what is mainly for pullin the house (house in background) when fuel was half way reasonable I pull the tractor with it since I had to sell the one ton on 05 (divorce).

I am now sort of recovered financially so I was able to get me another pickem up truck and I needed something between class 7 and Jeep so I got a Taco, it's got a 6500lb tow rating so I can pull the light stuff.

Some of you have nice gooseneck deckover trailers, thats what were looking for right now. I want to fit our new 4720 with pallet forks up on one plus two pallets of salt to take to a couple of our locations so we can unload the tractor and unload the salt, probably at least a 22-24' and 14k deal.

Since its not much more "new", id like to get something closer to 30' because i can get two of our cars we race up there too if trailering far like from NJ to Ohio :p

I have put chips on all 3 of my Ford Diesels with no problems what so ever. I had the 99 7.3 with a Quadzilla, a 2004 6.0 with a PDQ then later a Quadzilla, and a 2006 6.0 Quadzilla. All got better millage, had more power, and caused no problems.

Chris

Chris,

I have been thinking about adding a chip to my 97 7.3 to try and boost the towing power a little bit so out of curiosity I looked at there website and they no longer make a chip for the 97 7.3, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a good chip for a 97 7.3? Is Bully Dog stuff any good?

Yep, Bully Dog is good stuff. Also look at Banks and Edge. I believe some of the older 7.3L chips are getting harder to come by.

After 7,000 miles of towing since late May, here are a couple of shots the day after arriving back home. The trailer loaded is right at 10,000 pounds and mileage is 8.5 - 9.0 if I keep it under 60 mph. Include is the BX, 5' flail, chipper, box blade, rake, front forks, rear forks, 600 pounds ballast, foam filled tires, spare tires, welder, compressor, tools, toilet, generator, backhoe, bed, bedding, and everything needed to stay on the job site for weeks at a time. Now the work starts with the fixing and cleaning of equipment. Feels good to be home.
