Sweet rig! Great engine coupled with a great tranny! Thanks for sharin'.

(What kind of tree is that with all the blossoms? If I had to guess... I'll bet it doesn't grow very much north of say... Oklahoma?)

Thanks guys! My brother's an engineer for Cummins and he said his favorite rig would be a Ford truck with a Cummins engine and Allison transmission. So I found one!! I sure like it, it's just like driving a pickup. As far as the tree, I think it's a Catalpha. They're pretty common here in southeast Missouri. I can tell I have alot in common with everybody here. There's some super slick rigs in here! Love that white Ford 4x4 of RUNNER'S.....I'd like to have one similar to get my equipment around when the weather's bad. Cleared alot of snow with Bobcat this winter and the 2wd dump truck had a little trouble on the hills.

Yep, that's a catalpa. There are a lot of them around the Sacramento area and even up here 120 miles North.

Me too regarding your engine-transmission pair. If you want a hard working long lasting machine it is hard to beat that combination.

I have the engine, last 12 valve non-computer B5.9 that Dodge used (1997 one ton) but the Dodge auto tranny with missing gear is a bad joke.

Enjoy your winning combo.

I believe he's right in naming the species of the tree (although I had a hard time in botany - too many women in the class). They are thick in Indiana as well. I've seen them in Michigan, as a matter of fact. If you want to have fun, cut some up in 18" sections and give it to them for firewood. You know how some wood splits really easy and other wood is hard to split? Well, catalpha wood pretty well doesn't split! You can drive a wedge down into an 18" chunk of it and you'll have to cut your wedge out with a chain saw!

A hard time in botany... too many women... I love it...

Here in South central Oklahoma we have lots of catalpa trees. When I lived in NW Ohio (Lima area) we had lots of catalpa trees. As kids we called them cigar trees in reference to the large seed pods they produce.

They are terrific shade trees with their large leaves and quite pretty blossoms. I have several in some of my pastures and have been cutting down inappropriately located volunteers.

Oh, by the way... We have been picking and eating our wild blackberries for over a week with probably at least a month to go before the "rush" is over as there are lots of blossoms on some of the plants. MMMMMMM
