Do you have a pickup, and/or access to a trailer?
You can look somewhat father away.

I have a 1997 K2500 GMC and 14K trailer.
Am looking for an L48 Kubota 2004-2009.
I am 78, but will travel up to 700 miles if I can find what I want.
Drove 450 miles each way for my 4x4 Ford 1920FEL 3 years ago.

I am jumping in late on this thread, had a long weekend of snow.

Anyways that does appear to be a VN recon IMO, but that isn't always a bad thing and as Norm said it appears to have been in use for a while so its probably okay. The front drive shaft leak should be an easy repair if you want to tackle that right away or wait. I haven't had to do one yet but they don't look to be to terrible. The tractor looks to be in descent shape, I would make him an offer with the tiller and either keep the tiller or sell it if you don't need it. I can't remember if I read that you had a trailer to go get the thing though. Anyways good luck and let us know what you decided.

There's a giveaways that it's not a VN. which I mentioned one was about the Decals and not just because of the V-Tec. Loader. The other side of my grill has/had the red Yanmar a lot brighter and less faded in much better Org. condition. I kept it and it's still stuck inside my shed to the day. They was on mine a long time before I removed them. People on here do know I've been on this Forum for years . Another reason they was removed. Actually on here since late 07 and then bought the Yanmar in 2/08 no ROP? Huh!! Can't go there as a reason but I'm not going any further.

VN tractors have had several different looks over the years and used several different type stickers. There was LCI tractors that used Bulldog loaders and I think it was like V1 or VN1 tractor and I believe they were the ones that used the V loaders. One of those companies I think went under in the last decade . I can't remember which one and both may have gone under but one reincarnated here again possibly under a different name. The one in Atlanta I think was V1 tractor or whatever. They literally had thousands of them on their lot in atlanta, easily seen from Google maps.

Yeah I agree with you. LCI Was in Lawrencville. The Co. next to me. I actually checked into buying one of them. More of a Buy here pay here lot. That's the reason I waited and Spalding showed up on CL.. New who he was affiliated with and told him how I knew. And my/our opinion that actually ended up happening. I left him a Check even though I didn't even bring a trailer. I would be back for it in a few days. Back then not only was he Fred. Supplied and one of the first of the old UTDA. dealers. I'm actually chuckling to think it maybe a VN'er.. Wouldn't that be some _hit!!!

Afternoon...Seems a debate of sorts has developed on the origins of my little Baby, all I can attest to is she's a cutie. Petite, runs sweet, n sexy. Everything is there and where it ought to be & She's not afraid to get her hands dirty. Just like I prefer my women! If only she were soft & cuddly.

I have checked her out purdy good today.Put here thru a few paces, and Inspected everything over. Nothing appears to be cobbled together or miss matched, runs great. She Don't Smoke and I bet she don't drink much either..

Seriously Its A clean tight little tractor. Every thing works well. A little smaller than my 1610d, glad I'm skinny! I will have to modify a few things, weld on foot rest extensions for one, and trim and/or roll back the lower rear fenders were they meet the original foot rest. Hard to get my big feet out of that hole the way it is. Could prove to be a hazard. But I think it will serve me well for what I need. don't really need a work horse Nowadays. I am happy. Hopefully the honeymoon will be a long one. I looked at a LOT WORSE for $4.000

Here are some pic's:
