I am looking for an affordable 45-55 hp farm tractor with FEL. About 500 hours per year. Would like a wet clutch (for durability) with power shuttle (fwd and back without the clutch). I understand the Yanmar system is a high bred hydrostatic. Does it meet my requirements without the hydro power loss? I would like to find a clean Kubota M5040.

What is the rear ag tire size? What can I expect to pay with a FEL in the US? I see 5 year and 15 year warranty, please explain. Is the YT359 the same tractor with a bigger engine? Or is it a bigger frame, weight and tire size?

It is labeled a Compact, is it a real tractor designed to do real farm work or an expensive lawn tractor? Not being facetious, I will expect 47 hp performance, two bottom 16 inch plows, 6 ft bush hog, 7 ft HD back blade, etc. The Farmall M had a lot less hp!

I don’t own a YT but I’ve researched them extensively. I’ll tell you what I know. The Yanmar integrated hydro-mechanical transmission (iHMT) is a scaled down version of the CVT’s used in big agricultural equipment. Yanmar did the engineering to bring it to the compact tractor market in the YT3 series tractors. Yanmar builds the entire tractor including the engine and transmission in Japan, puts their name on it, and provides a 10 year power train warranty. All YT3’s come with two rear remotes and loaded tires standard.

The iHMT is clutchless and puts more power to the ground than a HST. When stepping on the “gas pedal” it operates like a HST coming to a stop when you let off it completely. The iHMT is fully electronically adjustable and has two pre-sets (called A/B mode) you can toggle with a button on the loader stick….i.e. one for more power and one for more speed.

The YT347 and YT359 are nearly identical except for engine size and power output. The YT347 actually has slightly more hydraulic flow. The Kubota Grand L and Yanmar YT3 tractors are the best on the market IMO, but the Yanmar iHMT wins with efficiency and power to the ground.

I’ve seen the open station YT’s going from $32k to $40K depending on location.

I purchased a YT359c a couple months ago and have been really happy with it so far. I was shopping for a 347 and dealer had both and the price difference was only around 2k. If figured 12hp for 2k was worth it. They are essentially the same size, I think the 359 is a couple inches longer in the hood.

Is it a real farm tractor, I couldn’t say as I’m not a real farmer. It’s certainly not a lawn tractor.

The I-HMT is not a scaled down CVT. It is a hydrostatic transmission that locks, much like a torque convertor. It has a solenoid to control the piston position which controls the swash plate. The pump block rotates with the input shaft from the engine and when the swash plate is in what would be the neutral position for a hydrostat, it hydraulically locks to provide a direct link between the engine and transmission, much like a torque convertor. There are not belts and pulleys that are components in a CVT. Here is a link with an actual sized transmission that is cutaway to see the internal components to see for yourself.

Thank you all and I am looking forward to driving one. However, I got a quote for YT359 open station, $51K and that is just too much for a compact tractor regardless of the convince.

How was that specced out?- That seems really high

That does seem high. I just purchased a 359 with cab, 3rd function, and grapple for less than that.

Here’s a YT[emoji[emoji6]] for sale in Louisiana for $K. Whoever quoted you $[emoji6]K is on crack.

BTW, I have no idea why the text is all messed up on my previous post.
