When I bought my Yanmar they required proof of insurance before they would do the loan and sell it. I called my insurance agent and they added it to my home insurance rider and sent proof of the insurance to my email address which I then gave the dealer. It was done in minutes and a negligible affect on my policy I don't even know what it increased it by but it wasn't much. Your insurance company should be able to tell you that over the phone.

That sounds really crappy, I would drive to the next Yanmar dealer.

I insured mine when I bought my JD through State Farm. I can’t remember how much but something around $200 a year. The JD insurance was about the same. It’s paid off I’m thinking of dropping it.

I wouldn't drop it, tractors get stolen all the time.

My understanding is my homeowners insurance would cover theft or fire. The insurance I have is more if I wreck it.

My insurance left a message today. I'm with Augusta, and she said it is one of the few that will not insure tractors. We decided to purchase the tractor because the price was excellent, except for the insurance price from the finance company. The dealer removed the crazy insurance package, and I will have to call around tomorrow. The backhoe has been ordered, and they expect it late next week. My two closest dealer quotes were the highest on the web. I have a 3 1/2 drive, but it saves me $8205 for the identical tractor. I did give one a chance and showed them the other quotes, but they would not budge.

Well, they must really like their tractors, they can keep'em. That's all the dealer, not Yanmar. Too bad you're having to deal with those yoyos.

The pricing is great compared with my two closest dealers. The further west you go from me, the better the prices get with the Yanmar tractors. I have been trying to find out if the spacers I bought for the 4075r will fit the YT359c, but I have yet to find any information.

I did not finance through Yanmar but I do have a policy on mine because home owners only covers you when you are on the property and I trailer mine to a few places so I have a personal article policy with state farm and it is about $480 a year but I have the tractor valued at 48K so I feel it is a fair price.

I have insurance on mine from my agent as a part of my ag policy and added by a third party. Not much at all.

If any dealer gave me a quote like that I'd just smile and say "wow, that's a deal breaker. Call me if something changes". It would change or I'd buy a Kubota.

A car dealer told me when I was buying a truck that he loved to sell the insurance coverage because he got a huge bonus for it. The problem he said was other firms kept undercutting his price.

Huh? Been "self-insured" tractor-wise for 45 years. This discussion is interesting - didn't know how much I was funding into my "insurance account," probably enough so far to replace a coupler of tractors. Wait, I've already done that! Only coverage I keep that is pertinent is my umbrella liability policy.

It's been a while since I bought my Kubota B2650 but I called my insurance agent and bought a policy just for the tractor. I did that because I take it off my property sometimes and this covers the tractor for damage plus liability if I should damage something with it. I don't know the matrix they used to calculate the amount of insurance needed but I have paid $100.00/year each year and it hasn't gone up in those 10 years so in my mind it was a good deal.
I use Nationwide for all my personal lines if you want to call and compare.

Good luck.
John
